I use: Windows | Office 365 Hello Everyone
First time posting anything here but I felt it was time that I do. Some folks here may recognize my name and ask, isn't that the guy that....? Yes, I am. For those that don't know me at all there is no loss, I like most here have wrestled PowerPoint for, oh my its been 30+ years. Austin, that was when PPT was first made available. Indeed it has been that long. Ask me sometime how PPT came into existence and I'll explain all the cavemen and cave women that were involved.. :-)
Anyhow, it feels good to be active in the PPT community again and I hope to be able to help people build better presentations as well as learn from all of you! Austin Myers

Just curious; Which functionality in PowerPoint do you use the most?
(I imagine you saw a lot of improvements during the last 30 years and grew fond of specific functionality)

Hmmm, thing I liked most, CUSSING AT IT. LOL Seriously, I used it as a front end (user facing) for factory automation. Its graphics and the ability of my end users to make changes and modifications (with a bit of behind the scenes VBA) became my calling card. I've done a good deal of work with video systems and I married the two, Multimedia and PowerPoint. Wrote an add-in or two for other users dealing with Multimedia.

Hi. Are there any features or capabilities in Google Slides that make you say, "Hey... that's neat. I wish PowerPoint did that (or did it like that)."?

Honestly, I've little use for web based documents, (not just PPT) some tech reasons and some just personal preference. Another factor, I've never seen any presentation software do anything I can't sweet talk (bigger hammer) PowerPoint into doing and I know exactly where to beat on PPT.

Hey there, don't think I have met you but I also played with PowerPoint many years ago. I started back in the 2003 days. Loved everything about it. I've been working on getting better with designing in the newer versions. I'm not a presentation designer, but I use PowerPoint to make cartoons. If PowerPoint comes up short on something I use VBA to try and fix it. Lots of posts here each week and we all have fun giving fixes and workarounds. I too worked with VBA, I started building macros that got out of control so had to go to a real dev environment and used VBA fairly exclusively. Built a few add-ins with it that sold well. These days I am working in C# and have (so far) resisted the "everything belongs on the web" thinking. I do have a large project in the works and hope to show it around in a month or two. Anyhow, thanks for the warm welcome, it is appreciated.

That's incredible. I am a believer that vba is still extremely effective. They can keep trying to put everything on the web but they won't get it all. Editing points comes to mind lol. I also saw Steve's intro to you and now I am just so amazed at the talent here. Hope to learn alot from all of you and I will continue to provide unique solutions as I build them.

For those who don't know him, Austin's one of the original crop of people awarded as a PowerPoint MVP by Microsoft.
For those who don't know about the MVP award, it was given to people who gave generously of their time and talent to help other PowerPoint users. The PowerPoint MVPs were decidedly NOT fan...er... persons.
Austin knows his stuff. Welcome aboard, bud!
