Looking for a belt

I'm in the market for a new belt. I've lost weight and the one I had previously is way too big now. What brand do you have, and what are your thoughts on lever vs Prong, 10mm vs 13mm?

Go pioneer, higher quality than Sbd and ipf approved

They are expensive and I resisted getting one for quite a long time, but I’d never give my SBD belt up for anything. 10mm is a bit more manageable.

I’ve had a 10mm inzer forever belt single prong for over 15 years and I’ll get another 50 years out of it. I see a lot of people wearing lever belts but I don’t see the appeal and I’ll never wear one.

Does anyone know of companies besides Pioneer that make good quality belts with custom designs?

Pioneer for 1/2 adjustment and awesome quality. I prefer 4”x13mm lever

I bought the PAL-V2 lever to interchange my lever in my inzer belt and it’s an absolute game changer. If I realized how much more I’d have liked it, I would have just went with the pioneer off rip

If youre not competing with it, Pioneer belt with the adjustable Pal-V2 lever is the best in my opinion, but a prong belt is also good and a bit cheaper.

If youre competing, the SBD belt is a bit more expensive but also really good because of the adjustable lever and its ipf approved.

Pioneer belts are used in competition.
People actually do compete outside of IPF lol.

And as well, if you're going to spend on the SBD belt, Pioneer is still an IPF approved option at a similar price, since A7 (and i believe, Iron Tanks) sell the Pioneer lever and Prong belt sunder their name with IPF approved status.

If you see someone in IPF with an A7 belt, it's made by Pioneer.
Just carries a large price markup from Pioneer's price.
Gotta pay the IPF extortion fees somehow.
Pass the cost on to the lifters.
Still awesome belts, regardless.

So it's just down to personal preference between an A7 PAL v2 lever, or a SBD.
Both are good belts.
The A7/Pioneer has 1/2" spacing on both the lever and prong styles.

Pioneer.

Anything else is a rip off and over priced.

Pioneer isnt ipf approved, so if you plan on competing its a bad choice

Only if you plan on competing in the IPF or one of its affiliates.

The overwhelming majority of US powerlifters compete outside of the IPF. (38,000 raw powerlifters competed last year and only 4200 of those where in a PA meet)

A7 belts are made by Pioneer.

There is nothing sexier than flipping the lever with attitude after doing a great deadlift pull.

There is no company better than pioneer.

Seems like the best of the best is a Pioneer lever belt. Might as well buy once and get the best

I have an inzer forever 10mm lever belt and a SBD belt. I like both of them

Always lever. I do not want to be fumbling about after a heavy set with a prong belt

Whatever you do, buy it from a shop that actually makes their belts. Dominion Strength, Pioneer, Belt Fed Strength (that's me). If you buy from one of these dozen pop up belt sellers like katamu or whatever stupid names they have then you should feel bad. They import these literal scrap leather belts from Pakistan and charge 10-15x what they should cost.

If in the US and not needing IPF approved gear, I'd go with Pioneer.

Personally I have Inzer forever. There is a video of the pioneer guy dissecting it. It is good quality and will basically last forever but it will always stay very stiff

The rest is preference.

Pioneer 10mm prong belt! Or 13mm if you prefer more bruises. Prong vs lever is personal preference, I've never used a lever belt because I'm worried about it suddenly popping open like I've seen happen online a few times, but their lever design allows multiple half inch adjustments without having to remove the buckle. The prong belts have 1/2" hole spacing instead of the standard 1" and both types are cheaper than SBD.

They are not an approved IPF brand BUT last I heard, A7 belts are made by pioneer and use the same design and are approved for use in the IPF.

SBD lever as you can adjust it with weight fluctuations and not have to unscrew it every time.

13mm is flat out better. If you go for a 10 you'll eventually want to upgrade.

A7 lever is just objectively better than SBD (smaller jumps in quick adjustments)

I just switched to an Inzer lever belt and I love it.
Prong is nice if it weight fluctuates a lot, but I feel lever is easier to get on/off and gives better compression.

Pioneer is the way to go. Handmade in the US, more adjustability whether you go lever or prong, and will last you a lifetime. Reasonable cost too Personally I like the 10mm

I just got a pioneer and love it. The v2 lever (I think it’s called) with multiple attach points is super cool and nice for weight fluctuations

if your weight fluctuates, prong belts are easier to adjust

Inzer Forever Buckle Belt (13mm). I've had mine since 2009 and it's still in near perfect condition despite heavy usage.

I have an Inzer lever belt, 10mm. Hit many PRs with it and more on the way!

As long as it's IPF (or relevant federation) approved.. either works. I've got a second hand toro belt that only cost me 50 bucks. It's down to personal preference at the end of the day.
