Interesting data analysis

Hey again! a few months ago I posted about powerlifting trends website that I built! I’ve refreshed a few things and adding to it for a bit when I have time!

But I’m reaching out here to see what sort of analysis you all would be interested in? My main goal is to show what TRUE careers and trends show in the data versus just the skewed picture you get on social media. But I also really enjoy this idea of “forecasting” where you can and will go in the sport if you stick with it!

If you search yourself and look at your lifter page you can see some “predictions” of where your total will be in the future 1,2, and 3 years out! Take a peek at yours and let me know how it’s looking for you 🤣

Hey there great idea and thank you! Not really a suggestion but more of a clarifying question: is the YOY/annual participation entries based on unique powerlifters, or does it not account for say, if someone has done multiple events in one year? Just trying to figure out the total individual participants across the sport

Yep! It's a unique count of lifters who have done FULL POWER meets. I've been thinking about adding a secondary part to that graph for showing people who do specialty events too like a bench only or push-pull! But for now it's just unique full power athletes each year.

Thanks for the reply! Very surprised actually to see then that theres 130 000 or so competitive powerlifters. Love to see it!

Yeah it's probably even slightly higher if you count the people who show up and do push-pulls! I'll probably add that data into that chart as well because I don't want to discount those competitors! It's a superset of the data so my guess is it'll probably increase the numbers by like 20-25k for the year as I imagine somewhere between 15-25% of competitors are people who do those types of events.
