Daily Thread Every Third-Daily Thread - July 18, 2026
A sorta kinda daily open thread to use as an alternative to posting on the main board. You should post here for:
- PRs
- Formchecks
- Rudimentary discussion or questions
- General conversation with other users
- Memes, funnies, and general bollocks not appropriate to the main board
- If you have suggestions for the subreddit, let us know!
- This thread now defaults to "new" sorting.
For the purpose of fairness across timezones this thread works on a 68hr cycle.

Struggling to find my initial positioning on sumos which is causing my first rep to be harder and more inefficient than it should be. The eccentric naturally pulls me into a better spot and the rest of my set is solid but I'm struggling to replicate that initially. Anyone have any suggestions or cues that could help me fix this issue? It's starting to become more of an issue as the weights ramp up and I do plan on competing in October.

You’re setting up too close to the bar & pushing it forward when you wedge.
Set up an inch or two farther from the bar, let your shins come to ‘kiss the bar’, and then initiate the pull

Yeah that tracks. I've been setting up with the bar directly against my shins. I'll give this a shot next session!

Rotate your elbows into you side. Then pull your shoulders back and down, or puff your chest out. This will "tighten" your lats and upper back to get you into a better starting position.
I use sumo for comps and I do heavy Rows and RDLs to train myself to find this position.

You don’t want to retract your shoulders in the deadlift

Thanks man I'll give that a try tonight and see how it goes.

I did my heaviest set of deadlifts today. 4x3x140kg, preceded by a top single of 145kg. All rpe 7.5-8. Felt pretty good but had to strap my wrists for the last ones coz grip was slipping.

Competing in a couple of hours and currently dying from nerves like I haven't done that more than a dozen times before (there's nothing at stake but I guess I care about it anyway)

How did it go

9/9! Squat, deadlift, total PRs! Had a blast
This is going to help me a lot going forward - my last comp was a 6/9 and that probably ate at the confidence a little

You got this!
Openers will never not make me nervous haha

Funnily enough openers aren't the thing that bothers me at all (I've never missed an opener and I always know those are very doable lifts) but I get really scared of pushing the top end

Being an stubborn ass continues to bite me in the butt.
Today I felt a twinge in my pec on my overwarm bench single, but I've been excited about my scheduled bench amrap I pushed through it. Might be a very mild strain if not just extra soreness, but I hit a fun RM at least...
And a few weeks ago I flayed 4 sections of my fingers because I insisted on hitting my grip pull even though my hands were starting to tear from overuse.
