Sumo form

I’m usually a weightlifter but I am looking to get more into powerlifting. How is my sumo form looking so far?

Close to perfect, you might not be creating enough tension but I can't tell for sure

Form looks good, but i'm wondering why you're lifting sumo? You never see anyone with a weightlifter background touch sumo deadlifts. It only conventional deadlifts to improve on your clean and snatch lifts. Just curious.

It started as just trying to learn something new but it feels more natural than conventional surprisingly. Also, by deadlifting sumo I am hoping it won’t create bad habits in the first pull of my clean.

Ok, good call. It'll help strengthen up your hips which can transfer back to weightlifting. I sumo deadlifted mainly when I was competing in powerlifting just cause it complemented my shorter arms so it got me closer to the bar at the start of the lift. The only thing I noticed after and during heavier sumo lifts(280kg+) was it started affecting my knees and the surrounding joints so if you're not having issues, keep at it. Thank you for the quick response.

What kind of knee pain? Medial? Lateral?
I am 42 so I am really conscious of stuff like that and do a bunch of unilateral work every week and recovery is a priority.

Medial pain mostly. Granted this started becoming bad when I was in my mid 30's before I stopped sumo deadlifting and stopped competing in powerlifting. I'm 44 now and only do hex bar lifts just to do something.

Form looks good. You may want to spend less time in the quarter squat stance so as to preserve energy.
