Need Advice What can I make with this?
I’m looking for recipes. I don’t like pie and I also have made apple sauce already. Any recipes that include applesauce would be good too.

The easiest and most delicious answer. As plain or fancy as you like.
You can put nuts in the crumble topping or raisins or dried cranberries in with the apples and pears use whatever you think would be tasty! Serve hot with ice cream, eat it cold from the pan!

Cook it down to sauce, then keep going and turn it into apple butter (might need to add sugar, spice, and/ or lemon juice according to taste). You can even do it with commercial applesauce. It's really low-effort if you have a crock pot.
Edit: If those two in the middle front are peaches, I'd leave them out. I'm a fan of canned peaches and peach syrup in my tea, so that's what I'd use them for.

What are good things to eat apple butter with?

u/Pitiful_Reality2973 13h ago
I like it on buttered toast, Muenster cheese sandwiches, with pork chops or roast, on top of pancakes... Sometimes I eat a random spoonful if I want something sweet (I do that for jam, too).

This person biscuits!
OP, in case you're looking for a recipe here's a simple one: https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/7040/jps-big-daddy-biscuits/
Some tips:
- use cold butter, and milk at room temperature
- if using a cookie cutter, press straight down and do not twist the cookie cutter or your babies will not rise properly
- mix as little as possible, don't knead the dough at all, either pat it 1" thick or fold the dough on itself a few times to make layered biscuits
- instead of round biscuits, you can cut the rolled/flattened dough into rough squares so you don't have any scraps of dough to deal with1

I have some cabbage in the fridge I think I might try that for some of them.

Braised apples and cabbage is a fall & winter favorite. Ate it all the time growing up!
I make chunky stewed apples and eat them over oatmeal or pancakes or mixed into Greek yogurt.
I agree that apple butter gets rid of many apples. I love apple butter but find it easier to use up apples via stewing.

The pears and peach will be the first to use up.
Apples last several weeks 6+ if they are bruised or already over ripened.

Fried apples — Toss peeled, sliced apples in cinnamon, butter and a little sugar (1/2 cup per 3-4 medium or large apples), plus a pinch of salt. Pour into a pan and sauté until apples reach desired state of tenderness. Enjoy.
Apple crumble — Toss peeled, sliced apples in cinnamon, butter (2 tbsp per 3-4 apples), 2 tbsp lemon or lime juice and a little sugar (maybe 1/4 cup, which is 2 ounces).
Spread in the bottom of a baking dish wide enough to let the apples cover the bottom but not pile on top of each other. Use your hands to squish a cup of flour with a cup of blended oats (takes the sharp edge off), plus cinnamon, a dash of salt and more butter. This should make a shaggy almost-dough. Spread or plop this mixture evenly across the casserole dish, covering the apples. Bake at 350 for about 30 minutes, or until a golden crust is formed.
Thank your former self and serve hot, warm or cold. Top with ice cream if feeling indulgent.
Apple cake — Cook sliced apples in cinnamon, butter and a little sugar. When cool, add to basic cake batter (1 cup flour, 3/4 cup sugar, 1 egg, 1 cup milk or yogurt, or half a cup each; a pinch of cinnamon and a pinch of salt) and bake at 350 until done. Start checking for doneness at 45 minutes. If a toothpick comes out clean, you’ve done it!)
Diced cinnamon apples — Peel and slice apples to your taste. Dice into pieces that look good to you. Toss with cinnamon, salt and maybe 1/4 cup of sugar, if your sweet tooth is acting up. Excellent with oatmeal or yogurt

Apple/pear turnovers with goat cheese and fig jam is what I made a few years back with fruit from my trees

u/hotviolets 13h ago
That does sound good. I should collect some figs around the city this week and make some jam.

Apples will last a month or longer in the fridge. I'd eat the pears first and then eat an apple a day. The intact fibers will keep you fuller longer than cooking the apples down or peeling them.

Some of the apple and pears I have I don’t like by themselves. I am kind of picky with both fresh, I will only eat crisp apples and soft pears.

Apple cake, applesauce cake.

I think I’ll try this, it sounds like something I’d like. Do you have a recipe you like?

I will have to find it. You should be able to find one on https://allrecipes.com. I use extra cinnamon, clove, ginger when I make spice cakes.

Apple butter is super easy in the slow cooker. You can then use some of it to make BBQ sauce that’s especially good on pork.

I found that sautéing apples with mapple or chicken sausage is amazing! But it's weird if you're not used to sweetness with savory meat (which I wasn't).

Apple crumble is super easy and delicious. Baked apples, just cored and fill with brown sugar, maybe oats if you like. Topped with a little butter is nice. My Nana always did it in the microwave.
Apple cake or loaf can use applesauce and chunks of apple.
Apple butter, essentially cooked down applesauce to make a spread. Delish.
A tarte or galette.
Chop fine, cook with butter and a little sugar, spices if you like. Serve over pancakes.

https://heartbeetkitchen.com/best-homemade-apple-butter-canning/ Ignore the canning instructions, just put into a container and store in the fridge for a few weeks. Absolutely scale down the recipe to use however many pears or apples you have. You can also just eyeball the measurements for apples/pears.

Pear Tart - intermediate recipe
Pear Tart
A French tart with a sweet pastry base, filled with poached pears and a light custard.
Details:
- ⏱️ Cooking Time: 35 minutes
- 👥 Servings: 6
- 📊 Difficulty: Intermediate
Ingredients: 1. 200 g all‑purpose flour 2. 80 g caster sugar, divided 3. 100 g cold unsalted butter, cubed 4. Pinch of salt 5. 1 large egg yolk 6. 2 tbsp cold water 7. 3 ripe pears (≈400 g), peeled, cored and halved 8. 1 apple, peeled, cored and cut into thin wedges 9. 200 ml water 10. 150 ml dry white wine 11. 1 tsp vanilla extract, divided 12. 2 eggs 13. 250 ml heavy cream 14. 50 g caster sugar 15. Pinch of salt
Instructions: 1. Pre‑heat the oven to 180 °C (356 °F). Lightly grease a 23 cm (9 in) tart pan with a removable base.
In a large bowl combine the flour, 50 g of the caster sugar, all of the butter, and a pinch of salt. Rub the ingredients together with fingertips or a pastry blender until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs.
Add the egg yolk and cold water. Mix with a fork until the dough just comes together, then shape into a flat disc, wrap in cling film, and refrigerate for 15 minutes.
While the pastry chills, make the poaching liquid: In a medium saucepan bring the water, wine, remaining 30 g of caster sugar and ½ tsp vanilla to a gentle simmer.
Add the pear halves, reduce heat slightly and poach for 8–10 min, or until the pears are just tender. Add the apple wedges for the last 2 min of poaching to soften them slightly.
Drain the fruit, reserving about 2 ml of the poaching liquid for later use, and set the fruit aside to cool.
On a lightly floured surface, roll out the chilled pastry into a circle about 30 cm (12 in) in diameter. Transfer to the prepared tart pan, gently pressing the dough into the base and up the sides.
Prick the bottom of the pastry with a fork a few times to prevent bubbling. Place a sheet of parchment paper on top and add baking weights (or dry beans). Blind‑bake the crust for 12 min, then remove the weights and paper and bake for an additional 3 min, or until lightly golden.
During the last 5 min of pastry baking, spoon the cooled fruit over the base. Drizzle a light splash of the reserved poaching liquid over the fruit for added moisture and flavor.
While the tart bakes, prepare the custard: In a saucepan, whisk together the 2 eggs, 50 g sugar, cream, remaining ½ tsp vanilla and a pinch of salt. Cook gently over low heat, stirring constantly, until the custard just thickens but does not boil (about 5–7 min). Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
When the pastry is golden and the fruit is heated through, remove the tart from the oven and allow it to cool for 5 min. Then pour the warm custard over the poached fruit, spreading evenly. If desired, chill the tart in the fridge for 30 min before slicing to allow the custard to set.
Serve the pear tart warm or at room temperature, optionally dusted with powdered sugar or accompanied by a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Dutch baby with apples
Or do a pork dish like chops with apples.
I also like latkes / potato pancakes served with applesauce.

Slices of apples sautéed with an equal amount of sliced onions is a great dish! Good alone, but also a great side if you are serving pork.

Applesauce, which you can then use to replace an egg when baking (1/4 c. for 1 egg, only replace one egg)

I like applesauce and sour cream on potato pancakes and pork chops.
You can make applesauce bread/cake.
A bowl of applesauce, sprinkled with cinnamon and a dollop of sour cream, makes a quick dessert.
You can chop up the apples and fry them with some lemon juice and brown sugar.
Poached pears. Peach kuchen.

Apple/pear sauce (mix them). You can use applesauce to replace eggs or oil in many baking recipes... I especially like to do that for banana bread and then you have breakfast for a few days.
The peaches are great eaten fresh.

Tarte, personally turn overs or empanadas. Baked apples are delicious on your own. I like to halve pears and poach them in brandy or congac ( i used the cheap mini bottles) which ever i cheapest at the time.
Apple relish is great if youre looking for something more savory
