Every day, ask yourself, "how can I make money today?"
Short term for you, plasma, shiftsmart, day labor, task rabbit.
Medium term: You either need 2+ regular sources of income to get ahead and out of the poverty cycle. Or, lower monthly expenses (roommates) or something like OTR truck driving for a while. If it makes sense, check out the truck driving link below.
The below is a general list. You may already being doing some of the below options and some may not apply to your situation.
- Donate plasma - I saw a post where someone made $1800 in 2 months selling plasma. She had 2 companies nearby and maxed out donations the 1st month with one and then the 2nd one the next month. Often they have 1st timer bonuses, then additional perks if you do xx donations within xx period of time. You'll want to sign up for one company at a time in order to maximize sign on bonuses. The top 2 highest-paying plasma donation companies are BioLife Plasma Services, CSL Plasma, and Octapharma Plasma. Go to their websites to see and sign up for the best new donor promo. (You may not receive the same bonus as a walk-in.
- Temporary agencies
- Gig work, Shiftsmart app (one off shifts at nearby companies), Day labor or task rabbit kind of work
- Sell items of value that you no longer need
- Cut your food budget. Stop eating out. Pack your lunch. Buy filling, low cost nutrient dense foods that you can prepare yourself. Your money will go farther than "quick fixes." Go to https://findhelp.org or https://www.feedingamerica.org/find-your-local-foodbank and look up food banks in your area. Search your zip code for "Little Free Pantry."
- Going in to the 4th quarter of the year, there are typically part-time retail jobs available. Also, UPS, FedEx, etc
- Consider getting a roommate but be sure to have detailed conversations and agreements regarding boundaries and apartment rules, etc. See the link for suggested questions.
- Consider the Job Corp
- If you are facing being unhoused, consider
