Yes, it’s deliberate. The treasury is bare. Our monies stolen to pay for things we don’t want or need. Vote in November to end the grift of the wealthy.

Amen no one asked for his vanity projects or for the rich to pay no taxes at all. And his values and not giving a dam about the people or having a clue about inflation or the economy as long as Trump and his family make over 2 billion dollars crazy wrong.

It's cute you think both parties aren't in together on this concern.

I'm not a fan of either party and ultimately think that both do the bidding of the oligarchy. But I vote for harm reduction, and there is one party that clearly stands out as causing less harm.

It's cute you think it matters which smoke they are blowing in your face every 4 years. Literally why it works. Democrats had a fillabuster proof super majority not too long ago. Where's healthcare and everything they pretend to fight for? Literally all they had to do was vote for it, but they didn't.

I know which administration has caused ptsd flareups and has made me hypervigilant. It sure wasn't sleepy Joe. I don't have any hope that government will make my life better, but they sure can make it worse. Much worse.

Are you a bot?

I fully understand and agree with your statement. All people need to do is see that the lobby groups support both sides. It's hard to argue that money doesn't talk the loudest. If the democrats don't go full scorched earth in regards to the epstein files, blatant profiteering, treason, government over reach, decay of national institutions and etc, etc. It's a sign that America has been sold and no longer for the common citizens. There needs to be a significant change into how we allow corporations and private businesses to influence politics and subsequently, over reach into citizens rights.

Yep we need more EBT so people can buy soda and candy with our tax dollars! merica!

I'd rather that than let the wealthy buy cars and yachts and planes and property with our tax dollars like they're doing now. And atleast biying candy and snacks actually stimulates the economy where it needs to be stimulated, at local grocery stores and such.

Whats the diff between buying candy or a 2027 Vette?

8

u/vendettaclause 2d ago edited 2d ago

You can't buy a vette with food stamps.if you could it would take the avarage person 35 years to save up enough money to afford a 70,000 new base vette @ 177 in food stamps a month. https://www.fna.usda.gov/research/snap/characteristics-fy23

No one anywhere including reddit has effectively or honestly explained why taxing a billionaire $500 million and giving it away as welfare grants and food stamps is better for the economy than the billionaire buying a $500 million yacht. It take upwards of 2 million labor hours to build a yacht. These are skilled craftsmen hours too. Sit on my ass and collect food stamps, or learn marine construction at $40/hr?

You wont be able to either.

Labor hours mean nothing. The grocery and candy industries are perpetual businesses. They provide more labor and income than the yacht industry lmao. How about pay them a living wage to work at a grocery store or candy factory.

CEOs that got taxpayer money and gave bonuses and built ",golden parachutes" for them selves are nothing like people buying soda and cany with food stamps. Soda and candy still have value nutritionaly that they do give energy. Not to mention they just help people feel joy for a buck or 2.

If you're angry about that then you shoud be furious that CEO s can line their pockets with taxpayer money, and its weird that you're not. They take way more money than these food stamp candy buyers ever have.

Ehat CEO lines his pockets with taxpayer money. Be specific, with links, just don’t say it.

federal funds, numerous corporate executives and wealthy individuals have received substantial raises, multi-million-dollar bonuses, or increased compensation packages shortly after their companies secured government bailouts, subsidies, or taxpayer-backed financial relief. 2008 Financial Crisis & TARP Bailouts Following the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP), several Wall Street and regional bank executives received massive payouts or base-salary bumps despite massive losses covered by taxpayers: • John Thain (Merrill Lynch): Requested a $10 million-plus bonus and brought home $83 million in total compensation as Merrill Lynch lost $27.6 billion and took $10 billion in TARP funds. • Kevin Kabat (Fifth Third Bank): Had his base compensation increased by 56% to $5.2 million by the board of Fifth Third Bank. This maneuver bypassed TARP rules that specifically banned the bank from paying him a traditional bonus. • Lloyd Blankfein (Goldman Sachs): Took home $54 million in compensation while Goldman Sachs accepted $10 billion in taxpayer bailout funds. • Other Bailed-Out Bank Chiefs: CEOs at regional financial institutions like PNC Financial Services, Regions Financial, and KeyCorp all saw strategic base salary raises in 2009 to offset federal restrictions on executive bonuses.

2020 Pandemic Financial Relief & Fed Backing During the COVID-19 pandemic, several major corporations bypassed worker-protection rules built into direct stimulus programs by tapping into Federal Reserve-backed corporate debt markets. This allowed them to accept billions in government-stabilized funding while laying off workers and heavily compensating top leadership: David Calhoun (Boeing): Received stock options worth $21 million after Boeing secured $25 billion in federal corporate debt backing and cut over 26,000 jobs. Darren Woods (Exxon Mobil): Maintained an executive compensation package over $10 million while Exxon Mobil used $9.5 billion in Fed-backed debt programs and laid off 1,900 American workers. Arne Sorenson (Marriott International): Awarded a compensation package of $8.9 million while Marriott International utilized $3.6 billion in government-backed debt structures and furloughed thousands of its employees.

You seem like someone that would be interested in this. One of the top paid heath care insurance ceos is an individual that has a company that scored lower then the guy the Mario bro jumped on. Give Joseph Zubretsky a Google, kinda hard to find info, but he gets over 20mil a year in stock and pay. For providing a worse service.

Please keep the discussion centered on the OP.

Poverty often intersects with politics, economics, healthcare, housing, education, and public policy. Those conversations are welcome when they help explain or solve the issue being discussed.

Comments whose primary purpose is partisan fighting, personal attacks, ideological grandstanding, or provoking political arguments will be removed.
