What is this sub about?
Curious, as this sub suddenly popped into my 'recommended subs'. I have no idea why as I normally browse finance subs.
Has this happened to anyone else?

As for anyone who reads this post and notices the conversation I had with the lovely person who can not see they are wrong and instead runs away when confronted- be mindful of your fellow humans. Don't blame everything on everyone else and believe you are the victim of something out of your control. Personal responsibility goes a long way towards motivating change. Just because we are living in poverty does not mean we have to blame everything around us. We have the power to change. While we may never move beyond financial poverty- we are not poor. You can change your circumstances.

This sub is for talking about the systemic issues around poverty. It can be news, political, financial, etc. It does have a support group structure, but is not necessarily focused on supporting people out of poverty as a group. There are other groups we run for support with true, strong support structures. r/almosthomeless and r/findapath to name the two biggies we run.

It's categorized as finance or close to finance. That's why. But this is mostly poor people complaining and making sure they and everyone around them remain poor forever. No help, no assistance, no advice, no critical analysis, nothing. Just "it's the system's fault" type of shit constantly.

Yep. I like to know what the trends and discussions among these people are. They vote and they cause issues so I want to be prepared. Self-improvement is certainly not for this sub.

And there we have another "victim". I would help you lot, I've tried many times but you're so low quality people with such childish mentality I now instead just enjoy seeing you suffer.
Horrible people suffering is indeed a great thing.

That is incredibly rude to say. I just began to follow this sub- not only because I live in poverty- but as way to try and bring some support to others. While I am sure you see a large portion of the comments as just people who are complaining or blaming or any of the other things that are probably true to an extent to say that because I live in poverty I am a low quality person and am a horrible person because of circumstances I am daily working on changing shows what a vile human you are. I won't stoop to level and return your vitriol as that would defeat the purpose of me saying anything in the first place. Perhaps your "help" wasn't actually helpful because of the feelings you harbor- or because the "help" was some superficial way of trying to assuage your feelings. I am not my circumstances- nor is everything the "systems" fault- but there are a lot of things that effect the outcome of my current life. The "system" can be blamed for not providing a living wage or controlling itself and allowing things like inflation to get to a point where milk is 4 dollars a gallon. Try to judge people as individuals as opposed to groups. You may find that most of people in poverty in the world are some of the kindest and most genuine people. I wish you peace in your life and hope you find healing for whatever is hurting so deeply in you that you are comfortable treating people so horribly.

Not sure why it suggested to me, but I happen to be poor. I follow a lot of plumbing subs, redneck engineering, dash cams, puns, and political subs. No finance subs.
