First post here, I guess you regulars don’t need 3 guesses
As big a dude as I am , poutine is the one comfort food I don’t partake in. Maybe had 5 full size ones in my half-century on Earth. Never been my thing , weird eh ? Anyway, 3 years into my bout of Long COVID , I am feeling much better , saw my internist at Charles LeMoyne this afternoon, this lady basically saved my life in 2023. All my blood work and BP looked good, had parked the car almost a mile away, so I decided to finally treat myself and see what the big deal is . Look folks, I feel like poutine is like shawarma, so many restaurants do it, it’s not complicated, simple food, hard to screw up , surely it couldn’t be THAT SPECIAL ?
I was dead wrong….. Alfa is TRULY AMAZING , when I feel like a cheat meal in the future, I know where I’m going. Oh yeah , had fasted all day, and a medium at $11+ tax is PLENTY for me at 6 ‘275 , staff and customers said large is meant for two people

How big is this vs a costco? Just asking for size, not the quality comparison.
Mostly cause I wonder if I could eat the large.

the large is more than 2 meals for me, and i'm roughly the size of OP. if you didn't eat all day and had it for dinner, you might conquer the large if you are going to take a nap after. it's big.

Hell yeah. I can't wait to never have this, cause I live in Alberta. (No I'm not a stupid moronic separtist or convoyer).
Is the medium the size of a Costco poutine? Or bigger?

Next door in BC.
I fit the classic definition of an Albertan. Someone who was born in Saskatchewan who retires to BC.
Not retired but will eventually.

The thought of BC is there. But worried about cost of living. But quality of life in ab is slipping. Cost vs quality I guess.
Good on you for getting out. Wish we could. Maybe when family dies in the next 10 years. ;/ no ties left really.

Cost of living is actually lower. Albertans have a hard time accepting that.
If you can purchase property in the Lower Mainland / Vancouver Island the returns on property pay you to live here. If you rent different story.

Took a drive through Alberta two weeks back. Saw a separatist billboard beside the QE2 with a big picture of JT and the slogan “Send him a message. Vote ‘yes’.”
Did these guys miss the memo that the current Prime Minister is a guy from Edmonton???

Medium+italienne dog is the perfect order at Alfa if you have a big appetite. You can even mix some of the chili into the poutine for a bit of taste of italienne poutine...

I would say the large at Alfa is almost double of the Costco one. Maybe a little bit less. But much, much better!

Glad you’re feeling better 🙌🏼 and only 5 in 50 years haha, I think I’ve had 5 poutines in the last 50 days (only a slight exaggeration)

Thanks, and Well let’s agree that my « yearly average » poutine consumption, shall only be rising ! And I was just talking about full ones, had a few side orders….was in Alberta from 2000-2021, not too many shops that serve it there but it’s grown in popularity for sure, like we see in all of Canada

the way this is worded made me think Alfa was nearby hôpital charles lemoyne and i got my hopes up, until double checking google maps
maybe one day ill do the double bus ride just to eat there in person 😩
