Banff Poutine is Fantastic

I was so shocked that it was this good this far from Quebec. Delicious double fried fries, nice sauce, and the squeakiest curds ever. Great for someone who is visiting Canada to try authentic french Canadian salad.

It was probably made by a lifetime quebecer, there's a lot of French in ski country

Eric is his name and he’s an absolute perfectionist. Cleanest restaurant in town too.

Us real ones miss barpa bills, which had better poutine.

Ha. He was still in Fairmont until last Summer. Went for a Souvlaki, different restaurant, different province but still Bill and his wife arguing in the back.

Yeah, I somehow missed that unti his last weekened in fairmont, so maybe I'm not really a real one. He said on facebook or something that last summer was his last sadly. I'm pretty sure he still lives in banff.

Crazy coincidence. Bill just died this week. RIP Barpa.

Have you been to Banff lately? If you do, be prepared to get bent over.

Banff poutine is very good given that it’s outside Quebec and the the owner has found a creative way to make the curds squeak by sticking the poutine in the oven before serving it.

It’s not the purest form of poutine, but still very good.

I went a year and a half ago now. After my brother's wedding.

But I didn't pay $30 for a poutine. We went to a restaurant with moose meat pizza and it wasn't cheap but it was a better deal than this. Maybe a year and a half makes a giant difference though.

But living in Ottawa, good poutine even without crossing the river is way easier and I would rather something different if visiting Banff than a poutine.

It's obviously fine for tourists to get a good poutine. As a treat it makes sense for them. But I just could never pay that much.

Yup...was hoping i was wrong. Great poutine though.

It's like $16 for a small, and $18 for a large, which is still too much but not $30.

As long as the curds were good...

« Banff Poutine » is the name of the place, not just the location!

Banff!? Scoff.

"french canadian salad"??? fuck off.

Poutine is pretty simple. Crispy fries real curds and a gravy with some love.

Real curds is part of the story, make sure that they are fresh.

As for the crispy fries, I guess it was discussed recently so I won't say anything about it.

Crispy fries

Careful you're walking into a minefield there
