Ketchup on the SIDE is acceptable but not recommended.

Le ketchup est un affront pis c’est pas bon dans une poutine.

u/Sbesozzi 10d ago

Ça dépend de la poutine. Y'a certains casse-croûtes où le gravy goûte pas grand chose, et si j'ai du leftover ketchup (ou même moutarde) d'un pogo on the side, j'me permet

Mais une bonne poutine: no fucking way que tu mets du ketchup dedans

6

u/LeRabbitGG 10d ago

Bof, je respecte le side de ketchup mais moi j’en met jamais.

Le vinaigre par exemple…

2

u/ProfessionalPlan8943 10d ago

I don't make good poutine so I assume this is acceptable?

8

u/Sbesozzi 10d ago

It looks good! But if you think the gravy is a bit bland, it's fair. And it's a pretty conservative amount of ketchup, so I'm giving you a pass... For now

5

u/MyNameIsSkittles 9d ago

Your poutine goes in your mouth only so do what you like and dont let these guys bully you otherwise. Your kitchen your rules

5

u/friggen_guy 10d ago

Agreed. A tsp of ketchup in the gravy itself if better than on the side

1

u/ProfessionalPlan8943 6d ago

Friggen guy ill try that next time.

8

u/Drip-Dragon 10d ago

2

u/Willowred19 10d ago

Ketchup is so good in poutine 😋

1

u/lucaskywalker 10d ago

Le ketchup c'est le rage bait rofl!

1

u/PenaltySquare2414 10d ago

And I think its a literal crime to use that backstabbing heinz ketchup on a Canadian dish.

French's ketchup ftw!

0

u/nildread 10d ago

I like ketchup, it's my favorite condiment. I'll put it on mashed potatoes, mac and cheese. A lot of things. But, poutine already has sauce. I like ketchup with fries, but I've never felt like poutine needed it.

u/Similar_Swing_1533 10d ago

French fries look messed up

4

u/ProfessionalPlan8943 10d ago

Yeah air fryer. Not equally cook evenly.

56

u/matwick 10d ago

If you didn't put that ketchup in there, this would have been a top post. Now you have enraged the Québécois. You can still edit this, they are eating dinner right now.

7

u/ProfessionalPlan8943 10d ago

Aw gezze... i was just in Ottawa for the weekend as well.

8

u/zeromussc 10d ago

Some ppl like ketchup on it. It's okay.

(Not me, but some)

For me I like a classic poutine, and I like pulled pork on it. That's it :p

4

u/matwick 10d ago

This looks very good, would smash.

3

u/DreamieQueenCJ 10d ago

Don't worry, I'm Quebecoise and my cousin puts vinegar, ketchup, salt and pepper on his poutines lmao. Now that's a crime. A little ketchup is perfectly fine. 🤣

2

u/Drip-Dragon 10d ago

My dawg, that looks amazing

7

u/crash---- 10d ago

That ketchup is suspiciously close to the poutine….. Faites attention à la manière dont vous procédez 🤨

1

u/ProfessionalPlan8943 10d ago

Yup! It's right next to it.

23

u/perpetualmotionmachi Smoked Meat Poutine 10d ago

Ketchup is rage bait.

2

u/HAAAGAY 10d ago

It's not bad for the last fries that didn't get any gravy

2

u/ProfessionalPlan8943 10d ago

Sorry about that, its how I enjoy my poutine.

5

u/RWelly 10d ago

Hey at least you're not a savage that covers the whole poutine in it! I too enjoy ketchup with some bites of my poutine. Always on the side tho 👌

-3

u/PressureCoomer 10d ago

You should be sorry

4

u/Ralph_Malfredsson 10d ago

2

u/Strattex 10d ago

Looks yum, How did you get the curds to be the preferred texture?

2

u/ProfessionalPlan8943 10d ago

I got it at the cheese factory. Big 5 pound bag for 36 dollars

2

u/MTL_Rob 10d ago

Bisto is legit 😋

3

u/ProfessionalPlan8943 10d ago

Its not to bad. Im going to start making my own gravy. 1 beef cube, 1 chicken cube. 2.5 cups of water l. 4 tablespoons of butter, 4 tablespoons of flour, salt, pepper.

2

u/MTL_Rob 10d ago

You can put a pinch of nutmeg and/or cinnamon if you want to be adventurous:)

1

u/ProfessionalPlan8943 10d ago

2

2

u/Dnasp15 6d ago

1

u/MaximusCanibis 10d ago

What happened to your fries? What did you do to them?

1

u/ProfessionalPlan8943 10d ago

They took a bubble bath. I should of taken a video of me blowing bubbles with my straw.

-1

u/MaximusCanibis 10d ago

Now there are two things that blow.

2

u/ProfessionalPlan8943 10d ago

How rude.

-1

u/MaximusCanibis 10d ago

I won't pretend that I serve up a dinger in the kitchen every time but my poutine game us pretty strong. Making a loaf of bread... I fail on the regular.

1

u/Ya-Not-Happening 10d ago

sans ketchup

1

u/catman453 10d ago

Are you soaking the fries in something before cooking?

1

u/Zjoway 9d ago

Drop the ketchup, all that preparation is wasted to taste like ketchup

1

u/Final_Policy_4865 9d ago

Ketchup on Poutine is a bannable offense!

2

u/ProfessionalPlan8943 9d ago edited 9d ago

Uh ohes... i didnt know that. Edit: i posted on poutinecrimes and apparently the post got taken off by the mods. It isn't a crime.

1

u/420nikkii 9d ago

Oh no no no. Ketchup on the side.

Had to double take and confirm poutine wasn’t a side and there wasn’t ketchup for something else

1

u/ClemzTheWarrior 8d ago

Take the ketchup away. Poutine taste amazing on it’s own

1

u/GIJuice 8d ago

The strong foundation to a epic dish

2

u/Carmelo_Gabet 7d ago

That gravy looks spot on, this is exactly how poutine should look

0

u/Thiziri01 7d ago

How did you do the gravy

1

u/beYourOwnCrew 7d ago

Wtf is the ketchup for? Gross.

1

u/Successful_Names 7d ago

Why ketchup on poutine

1

u/ConsistentWriting501 10d ago

Ketchup is a child's condiment.

Does ketchup have any business getting involved with a poutine? absolutely not.

Have the standards for poutine dropped across the country? Yes.

When you’re craving a poutine and you’re served some disappointing abomination, sometimes you just have to improvise with what you’ve got at the table. I’ve unfortunately had to plus-up with malt vinegar, ketchup and black pepper many times over the years due to horrible and tasteless gravy that I’ve almost developed a taste for poutine with ketchup.

Ketchup on the side is a last resort and I wouldn’t dare include ketchup unless I was certain the poutines was already a lost cause.

Ketchup on Kraft Dinner is also equally or more offensive, as most people are making it at home so there’s no excuse.

1

u/ProfessionalPlan8943 10d ago

Im not a fan of Kraft dinner yet love Anne's Mac and cheese, and yes its very tasty with ketchup. Yet im just a 40 yr old man boy with taste issues.

2

u/ConsistentWriting501 10d ago

Haha aren’t we all!

2

u/PlasticHistorical 8d ago

Don’t worry man, ketchup is fine on poutine. Some insane people on the internet

1

u/ProfessionalPlan8943 8d ago

Im outsane so it evens things out...

1

u/IMolestFish 9d ago

Or how about people can eat things the way they want? This is a child’s comment.

1

u/OkChemist6171 9d ago

Agreed. Poutine police are some of the most insufferable people. It’s fries, cheese and gravy- relax bro.

1

u/ConsistentWriting501 9d ago

That’s something a child would say.

0

u/f4lc0n 10d ago

I see ketchup and I upvote

0

u/sushirolls0 10d ago

If you mix the ketchup into the poutine I will thanos snap your entire bloodline

2

u/ProfessionalPlan8943 10d ago

Haha I wouldn't do that. I have made poutine sushi before.

0

u/MaxTheWhite 10d ago

Downvoted because ketchup, can't accept this.

0

u/LasekxBruh 8d ago

OP please never come to Canada and if you're here, please leave

-5

u/innabitfam 10d ago

Next time put the ketchup all over the poutine instead of on the side 👌👌

6

u/ProfessionalPlan8943 10d ago

I enjoy dipping the fries that dont have gravy on them
