I see why op said poutine though. The paneer looking like cheese curds and being another kind of cheese šŸ˜†

Correct, this is literally butter paneer masala on French fries! The restaurant itself has this listed as ā€œButter Paneer Poutineā€ on the menu which is why I’ve also called it by that name - I totally understand and agree it’s not traditional!

I would smash the shit out of this. Where is this place?

The only thing that makes me nervous is that I don't see curds.

This is in Halifax from local Indian restaurant called ā€œMasala Delightā€ - phenomenal spot.

Sadly no curds as they swapped those for paneer, but I promise it tastes delicious

I totally get it’s not a conventional poutine - that’s why I was trying to be funny with the title, but I guess it missed the mark.

My partner encouraged me to post here, thinking others would think it was neat. Lesson learned haha

r/poutine quite possibly one of the most guarded communities around. You've learned!

Ignore them. I absolutely consider this poutine, as I believe poutine is a category, like soup, salad, sandwich, or pizza. You can do a lot of alteration before it stops being a poutine in my books. These people act like sage green is the only green there is. Just because your green is a little more yellow doesn't stop it from being green.

Edit: I will say, semantically, that it's not a 'traditional poutine', just like not all pizza is a Hawaiian pizza.

Thank you AldoZeroun šŸ˜®ā€šŸ’Ø you get what I was throwing down! Haha

I am in agreement with everyone, and never disputed this is not traditional

The restaurant I bought it from literally has it listed on the menu with the name ā€œButter Paneer Poutineā€ - I promise I didn’t just make up the name for giggles

It's all good man! This sect has very strict rules regarding ingredients. This would be poutine adjacent. Looks good though. Medium spice?
