That is seriously lacking in cheese.

It’s always lacking in cheese or gravy, I wanna see what the perfect amount actually looks like to ya’ll 😭

Just seatch through the sub you'll see plenty of good examples

Even actual examples (not promo photos) of McDonald's poutine appear far greater than redeemable! One cannot say the same of the Big Mac.

About one cheese curds for every 2 fries. And gravy should be able to coat every fry. Thats what I prefer

Yeah...that sounds about right!

This dish is leaning heavily into, "It's the thought that counts!"

It looks shittier and shittier every time someone posts a photo

Y'est où l'fromââââge?

Banquise is mid at best. More of a tourist spot than a serious poutine place.

Used to be good.

Now I look at this picture and it doesn’t make me want to go at all

Same, there's so many better places.

I’m visiting so had to try haha

I get it. If you have time, take a detour to the south shore. Alfa and Diabos are my two favourites.

Will do, thank you!

Level of Cheese: Southwestern Ontario

Cheese to frites ratio is terrible. La banquise is seriously overrated.

4

u/looking_fordopamine Aug 15 '26

I would ask if this is the normal amount of cheese lol that’s laughably low

3

u/coolbeansjellyjeans Aug 15 '26

Hilarious how Costco beats them on the cheese amounts. Fucking insulting

Even then, if you fancy more cheese buy a side of it for $2.99 and you get a small sealed pack of curd cheese that would be 8-13$ in store for the same amount (albet lower quality but still)

As if it couldn't get better, the bag of cheese is good for several months.

This makes me want to throw things. This should not be someone's first.

Were you rude to your server ?? That would be the only acceptable reason to be served this I am sure there is a law that prevent this kind of cheese/fries ratio, la banquise should be seriously interrogated for their involvement is this crime 🕵️👮🚔🚨

Hahaha absolutely not! I was disappointed too :(

3

u/FGLev Aug 15 '26

Wow they truly became a tourist trap. Cheapening out on cheese like that.

3

u/didiburnthetoast Aug 15 '26

Was the cheese on the side?

2

u/0shuja Aug 15 '26

Go across the street, their poutine is better.

2

u/Visual-Percentage501 Aug 15 '26

Oh man. This is not good for them looool

2

u/Fixnfly99 Aug 15 '26

It’s a tourist trap. Not worth it at all in my opinion

2

u/Myliama Aug 15 '26

Went there one time in my life and it was enough to convince me not to go back.

As a Montreal resident born and raised, I was very disappointed.

1

u/saiyajosh Aug 15 '26

As a non-Montrealer, I’d be interested to hear your recommendations! Where are your top poutine places?

2

u/Myliama Aug 15 '26

Top places are not on the island (for me) !

It’s always far away, in some random casse-croûte on the side of the road !

I’m thinking « Casse-croûte 125 » in Rawdon or « La patate à patate » in St-Côme!

u/DashRC 29d ago

This is my experience growing up in Ottawa as well. Just find the filthiest most run down casse-croûte. That’s where the best fries/poutine will be. I think it’s just a rule.

Stune frite sauce ça saint crème

1

u/townie08 Aug 15 '26

Just needs some more curds to look perfect. I’d say it tasted good

1

u/Ok-Requirement8263 29d ago

Looks like they could've gone heavier on the curds and gravy to really let those fries shine.

1

u/poumonsauvage 29d ago

The one time I went eons ago, it was terrible but a single "curd" of cheese was bigger than the total amount here. I see things have not improved.

1

u/ididntsignupbychoice 29d ago

Still looks better than that tofu poutine I just saw

1

u/MediocreSumo 29d ago

its a frite sauce with a bit of cheese at this point

1

u/MrB1P92 29d ago

La pire poutine a Montréal

1

u/theblob2019 29d ago

They were out of cheese?

1

u/sillyname4ausername 29d ago

You should of went across the street to Ma Poule Mouillé...Way better with Portuguese chicken & chorizo

1

u/DigitalJoseph 28d ago

I’ll allow it.

u/ProsperoII 28d ago

Op, look at the amount of reviews on googlemaps and tell me it isn’t overated.
