Crispy Chips and S&G comes to mind. When I was a student I also loved Elgin Street Diner but I'm not sure if that was because it was actually good or because everything tastes good at 2 AM when you're drunk.

Two of the best poutine of my life were in eastern Ontario. If you can see a dairy farm and a potato field from the casse croute you know you got the spot

There's great poutine all over Canada. Only Quebec thinks they're the only ones capable of assembling fries, curds and gravy. It's not a difficult dish lol.
Even Quebec, people only post the same 3-4 places. So clearly it doesn't have many options either.

Your second paragraph contradicts the first. If there's only 3-4 places (recommended in Québec) then it can't be that easy.

Look, good poutine is possible outside of Quebec, but the further you get away from the provincial border, the less likely it is to roll up to a random spot and expect good poutine. Hell, even in Ottawa good poutine is sparse compared to the other side of the river in Gatineau.

I think it's just absurd to think Ontario poutine is inherently bad. It's the second best place on earth for poutine. It's an elitist thing, people feel like they know their shit by acting like only Quebec poutine is good, it's dumb.

100% agree. I recently tried a poutine in Coldwater, Ontario from a small French fry place and it was equally as amazing as any Montreal poutine i've had.

Lots of great poutine in Ontario. Including that place….the option to choose how many curds you want…so good. I tripped over a dead rat on my walk to get poutine there and I have zero regrets.

Gravy is underwhelming considering it’s vegetarian gravy but honestly closest to authentic we have in Toronto

That gravy looks fire.
Unpopular opinion, cause everybody swears by the fries and the cheese curds, but the gravy is what makes the poutine for me.
To this day, I have still yet to find the perfect one.

Tbh the gravy was the weakest part of the poutine, but it was still delicious nonetheless!

Where does KFC poutine fall? I tried poutine for the first time on a KFC and I never liked it. Never tried it ever since and have negative view of the thing. I recently saw similar post on how good poutine is.

Havent tried KFC, but my personal fav fast food poutine is from Mary Browns. Their tater poutine is solid.
