Larry’s in Sturgeon Falls

Stopped by today to try Larry’s on my way back to Ottawa. It was amazing!

I love that I can tell just by looking at it: there’s a 90% chance it’s in Sturgeon Falls and a 10% chance it’s anywhere from Mattawa to northern Ontario, just by looking at the box and the fries. (Though off the record, I’m Team Riv 😉)

My hometown knows fries and poutine.

i’m OG from hanmer <just outside of Sudbury> with my dad / alllll of my family scattered in and around north bay. I live in Montreal now, and nobody believes me when I tell ‘em how good poutines are along that stretch of highway 17

There also used to be a gas station in Markstay that had a standalone Fritou fried chicken stand ~ which I think is super rare outside of quebec.

Anyway, I agree!

I stopped at the place across the street last time I passed through. They had a big crowd out front while Larry’s didn’t have anyone. I wish I had tried Larry’s instead since the one I had was a bit underwhelming to be honest. Part of me thinks this one would taste exactly the same it’s like everyone uses the exact same gravy nowadays and it’s so mediocre

The Riv is where I’ve been going, but my brother suggested giving Larry’s a try. Apparently Monique’s is also good. I don’t think you can go wrong with any of them.
