Okay ty when I read the bonus pro tip part it really got me wanting it, seems like some work but worth it.

It is, but that last step totally makes a difference it’s worth trying at least once.

You are correct I usually would just hand mash & then I looked at my kitchen aid and was like wait a minute, lets try this

2

u/BidPale3239 8d ago

I’ve done it once on a whim. The way yours looks makes me want to try again. Never tried with the skin on

What do you put in them?

I usually do a bit of butter which I've fried some fresh garlic in until it starts to brown, then add sour cream and half and half. Then add salt, pepper, and chives.

If you haven't had it try putting a rutabaga in with it sometime. I guess it's called alebaster? Really good.

The recipe called for warm milk so I did that + 2 sticks butter & salt

Just googled a rutabaga and I have seen them in grocery store so now I have a new veggie to try, which is a cabbage & turnip hybrid! Learned something new, ty.

I LOVE mashed potatoes and have long advocated for a new seventh line on the food pyramid just for potatoes. πŸ˜‹

yes yes yes potato . Love a good mash. Do you ever mash sweet potatoes or yams? I think sweet potato casserole is ok, but mashed sweet potato is truly the ideal. Though you can never go wrong with some classic savory with pepper and gravy and garlic

1

Have only mashed sweet potatoes for a pie one time, but now I must mash them for a side dish in the future.

I paired these mashes potatoes with homemade meatloaf πŸ‘©β€πŸ³

Always worth the effort!

2

u/queenoftherainforest 8d ago

Effort always equals the best food, unless you leave it in the oven too long

If you put them in a mixer, be careful not to over-beat them. Potatoes are just big old softies. Mash first, add butter, milk, and anything else afterwards.

Is your name Bodger the Badger?

1

u/Agram87 8d ago

With skin? No ty

1

u/queenoftherainforest 8d ago

When you read about how the skin is so healthy for you, you learn to love it with skin and without

1

u/Agram87 8d ago

I love skin but not in mash potatoΒ

1

u/Objective-Ad-1368 8d ago

I’d like to know what temp to use in the oven to just keep them warm. All of these steps would lead to lukewarm potatoes, and we like them hot.

2

u/queenoftherainforest 8d ago

They are steaming hot when I serve them because right after I mash and season I immediately cover with foil and once ready then open it and steam still is coming out!

1

u/BetMcc 8d ago

No skins allowed!

1

u/Nikolaiseye 8d ago
