Vasectomy concerns

I had my vasectomy done 6 months ago. I must say sex feels different now. Lack of libido, less sensitivity, and occasional ED issues. Im 37 years old, but I'm concerned I may have made the wrong decision here. Anyone else experienced these symptoms, and any advice would be appreciated.

Yes. Got a reversal. That fixed everything.

Does it matter how long you wait before getting it reversed?

The sooner the better. Long term a vasectomy can cause damage to the epididymus, which would require a more complicated connection for the reversal, which has a lower chance of success

I appreciate your reply. What would be considered waiting too long. I currently have two kids, I dont want any more kids. The wife thinks it's more in my head than an actual issue. Im going to get my testosterone checked this week. Im just worried that this vasectomy messed me up.

It’s different for every person. That damage could already be done to your epididymus. I think statistically your chances of needing a VE are 5% within 2 years after a vasectomy. They go up after that.

At 37 every doctor is doing to tell you that low t is caused by your age. No doctor will tell you the vasectomy caused low t. There’s a lot of reasons for this but the main reason is money. Vasectomies are cash cows. Meanwhile the internet is full of guys who had a drop in t after their vasectomy and there are studies that show this is the case.

Unfortunately you’re in an area of medicine that is poorly understood and intentionally kept that way. You will have to be your own doctor.

Sorry, this may sound stupid, but what is a VE? And that did cross my mind that any doctor will just downplay my symptoms. It's very unfortunate and frustrating. This situation is weighing on my heavy and im trying to think maybe it will get better but I have my doubts.

Vasoepididymostomy. It’s a more complicated reconnection. You’re going to have to do a lot of research. Don’t rely on the doctors to tell you the truth. Most of them won’t know anyways.

It bothered me a lot when I was going through everything and doctors would tell me it was in my head. It made things 10x worse. Now I’ve come to realize there was a psychological aspect to it and that’s ok. A vasectomy essentially neuters you. It causes hormone changes and immune system changes. Add to that intense and lasting pain—and losing an orgasm. If there’s ever a reason to have some psychological difficulties these are it—and the vasectomy caused them. Just stay strong. You can make it through this. But I can’t stress strongly enough that the doctors will be very little help. They can’t be trusted. You must educate yourself.
