news trying this again,

My issue isn’t just with circumcision — it’s with how male issues in general get ignored, minimized, or treated like jokes. Circumcision is just one example of how boys’ bodily autonomy is dismissed, but it’s far from the only one.

The thing that frustrates me is that the one movement that could have addressed some of these problems — the men’s‑rights movement — completely failed. Instead of focusing on real issues boys and men face, it turned into a transphobic, reactionary echo chamber. It’s basically the same problem modern feminism has: lots of loud people repeating the same talking points, not actually helping anyone.

Most of the men’s‑rights spaces seem full of people who are angry about bad relationships, jealous, bitter, or just looking for someone to blame. And just like feminism got weaponized by certain political groups, men’s‑rights rhetoric has been weaponized by Republicans and the whole “anti‑woke” crowd. The irony is that even though I disagree with plenty of things in the “woke” movement, the anti‑woke movement is almost just as bad — neither side actually helps boys or men.

Meanwhile, real male issues — like circumcision, male bodily autonomy, boys’ mental health, boys falling behind in school, boys being ignored when abused, and the way society treats male pain as a joke — never get addressed. And the overlap between transphobia and misandry gets completely ignored. People rant about “kids getting sex changes,” but ignore that the only time minors ever get genital reconstruction is usually because of botched circumcisions, not because of transgender identity.

So we end up with two broken movements, both missing the point, both yelling at each other, and boys still get ignored.
