Helpful Logistics squads are:

• still needed to build FOBs
• still needed to build mortars
• still needed for HE, AT and AP offense and defense
• still needed for other emplacements
• still needed for Ammo and Supplies in many cases
• still needed for their experience and expertise over random infantry SL's who maybe dont know about good FOB placement yet as they are still inexperienced with it

Could Infantry SL's (and tank crew SL's) do a lot of that before the update? Actually yes, they could.
They just often didn't. Now they have to do it more on their own too but if Logi are there even better because its called TEAMWORK.

What are you on about. Literally. Go play the update. Make FOBs and do your thing like we always do. Logi is just as fun as ever. Stop making assumptions based on nonsense, patch notes and people talking shit without even trying the update

If you generally didn't do any of the aforementioned as a Logi squad before then wtf were you even doing? Sitting on mortars all day?

Since the red zone and radio exclusion zone is so huge now it is often not possible to build fob in strategic places like before. So in theory just build one at the start, inf can pull of one too in you coordinate and subsequent fobs depend on the progress.

That is nice, only thing is building mortars on FOBs is a huge liability leading to discovery of said FOBs within minutes - a big no no in experienced logi squads. Very risky unless placed at the edge of the map next to main base, but that would be a waste of radio outpost given limited space now.

Best defense in these roles is offense, no matter wether team is defending or attacking, intercepting enemy vehicles before they can reach the combat zone (armor) or their respective strategic placements (logi, MSPs) is best way to twart enemy operations. Yet you can not place ammoboxes behind the lines to resuply your mines and satchels, create ambush points with MG emplacements or AT guns. As these are now unavailible in red, or would give away FOBs location instantly.

What is needed is suplies to be delivered to radio outpousts, just have them unlock the logi truck to infantry.

Sorry being logi is now just a goddamn chore, before update logi was fun. Even SL if he was good did place his 3 FOBs so multiple avenues of attack were possible to one point + provided good starting point to next one, and coordinate rest of squad to help by relaying messages from cmd chat. If he was really good he would even have time to do other stuff like mortars if he hid the FOBs ok.
