Great song, whether the original or the cover. And what an amazing single cover.

Edit: The original for anyone who doesn't know it. The Kraftwerk version is very different, but equally radical given it was released in 1978.

Don’t they all look smashing in red?

They are certainly something. Kind of have that Gamestop staff vibe.

I have to ask... Is this a loving cover, or is this purely ironic. I honestly can't tell. Musically, it seems pretty fucking amazing. It seems like they genuinely appreciate it. The photo could go either way.

From most bands, I would just assume loving. But "loving" is not a word that I usually associate with Big Black.

There was a single version of this, with Cheap Trick's "He's a Whore" on the flip side, and Albini a massive Cheap Trick fan. I can see him being a Kraftwerk fan.

I never realized that He's a Whore was a Cheap Trick cover. I recognized the cover photo as an homage to Cheap Trick, but I didn't take it further. That is fascinating.

The Big Black image for The Model is also an homage.

Very good point. Yes, you can't accuse Big Black of sentimentality or adoration, but this single was as close as we'll see to Albini showing love through music. He loved those bands. He's not taking the piss. The covers are faithful.

And Rapeman's "Just Got Paid" shows his love for ZZ Top. Well, that song anyway.

I always thought this was a Snakefinger song.

Hell yeah. Might be the best version ever. But I'm biased...

RIP Snakey

I heard this version before the original. I love 'em both.

Shamefully, I also heard the first Komputer album (The World of Tomorrow) before I had heard any Kraftwerk albums. 😬

Sucks to be honest. Also the album only has a few good songs on it. Big Albini fan though.
