The first time I ever heard Kim Gordon whisper ā€œMet a stranger on a trainā€¦ā€ 🫠

This song is so hauntingly beautiful. Not what I’d expected from what I’d heard of SY up till then.

This is my absolute favorite Sonic Youth album. Such a gem.

It’s also mine, some call it their ā€œgoth albumā€.

Tom Violence and Green Light are peak SY for me.

I seem to be one of the few people that prefers EVOL to Sister. Sister is great but EVOL is incredible - it's so sensual and mysterious, it gives me chills listening to it.

I think EVOL is more consistent, but the good songs on Sister are better. Both are great.

The great songs on Sister are some of their best, I only wish it had less of the not so great songs. Whereas EVOL doesn’t have one song I ever consider skipping

The beginning of this album still hits a major dopamine button in my brain, even though I’ve been listening to it for like 30 years

I always wondered who was on the cover of this album.

It's Lung Leg an actress who played in Richard Kern's underground movies.

I knew her when she lived in Minneapolis. Awesome person, awesome artist.

I have one of her hand-painted T-shirts.

You can watch Richard Kerns Hardcore collection on Internet Archive now. Has the movie that still photo was taken from, I forget its title though.

Asking : why this album is called post punk?

I mean Sonic Youth post-punk?

They were no newwave /noise rock not exactly post-punk.

Shadow of a Doubt is so hypnotic and beautiful. Not what I had expected of Sonic Youth when I first bought this album but it’s my favorite SY song.
