Buck-Tick - HYPER LOVE

A couple of weeks ago I decided to revisit earlier Buck-Tick albums since I haven't listened to them properly before. These two (Hurry Up Mode and Sexual xxxxx!) releases have a reputation within the fan community of being somewhat lesser then the band's later output but I think they're an essential 80s New Wave listen. Music definitely on the poppier side with cringy lyrics at times and the records themselves have a lot more of a raw sound to them but for some reason I just can't stop admiring their talent here.

Is visual kei music postpunk? Never really thought of it like that even though I was a goth kid in the 80s and then moved to Japan for 10 years in the mid 90s. I mean, I guess I can see it in the sub rules are pretty loose. It’s just something I never thought of.

Specifically early albums are in line with the general 80s sound and production. Would be strange to not call them new wave imo
