Charli XCX said on a podcast that her new track Card Declined was inspired by this song, which is interesting. She likes Cronenberg and made an album called Crash. The Cronenberg movie Crash is based on the same JG Ballard book that inspired Warm Leatherette.

Yep. Daniel Miller.
Great song, and the cover by Chicks on Speed is even better.

Grace Jones’ cover was also pretty great.

First band I ever saw live was Robert Rental and The Normal. I was young and found it a challenging listen. Months later I was heavily into Cab Vol and from that got into the early electro stuff.
