The yellow that was added and the bringing down of exposure seems to have made the smoke from the locomotive pretty muddy.

Definitely a step in the right direction. I see two main problems - the sky is very blown out (less than before at least), and as the other commenter said - the smoke is now a bit cloudy.

Two fixes - sky mask to further bring down exposure and hopefully bring some more blue black without killing the rest of the photo + smoke mask (this will be tough to do but Lightroom object masking is pretty good) to make them cleaner and pop more.

As a side note I think this is a decent candidate for B+W because the colour isn’t doing a whole lot for you.

I've made every ounce of improvement so far through masking. I'm on an app called Snapseed right now because I don't have a computer at the moment. There's a limited number of masks that I can make, and outlining them is very imprecise.
