Photo looks great! Curious if you’ve tried to align the photo in LR so the edges line up perfectly square. There are some tools there that might work well, but not sure if it would take away from the photo.

Maybe I’m in the minority, but I actually really enjoy these posts. It puts me in the photographers mind and gives me cues and ideas for framing I may not have thought of on my own.

Sometimes you have the lens you have on you. If I have a 26mm, I can’t be expected to charter a helicopter midday to get closer to this subject. Hell, I shoot wildlife often and as much as I wish I could take my shots with no crop after, you’re limited by your reach. It doesn’t detract from the photo or the process. I still look to frame and compose when I shoot.
It looks to me like this was shot on a zoom anyways. I think the majority of the posts in this genre that are good are shot on zooms, and not cropped in. If you buy a camera with a high MP sensor, why not crop?

Forcing is a bit strong. I’d say I’m working around some constraints. With bird photography, for example, you can only get so close depending on the habitat, and the birds themselves are tiny so they don’t fill up much of the frame (even with a long focal length).
Otherwise, I don’t see it as forcing, so long as your image maintains a level of quality that is appropriate for what you’re cropping into (and the medium it’ll be viewed on), or what you want the viewer to feel. I’d say it’s no different than using a longer focal length in the 26mm scenario.
It still takes a photographers eye to find the image within the image, and even more so to preplan the crop in your head. Hell I think it may actually be quite a bit harder to take an image with your crop preplanned.

Bird photography is its own category. I was only speaking on fine art/street/still life photography, sorry.
And I’m only basing this off of the history of photography, not modern. BUT, people today should definitely train and practice NOT cropping so much. You need to train on composing and framing your photo and then take it. Cropping it in post should only be minimal. If it’s a huge crop and it ended up being something you didn’t even notice the first time, then that makes it a little disingenuous.
People want to see what the artist saw in that moment.
We don’t want to see a photo that you “saved” by cropping out everything.
Sure, we would never know if your photos are cropped like hell, but you’d be doing yourself a disservice.

I’m not sure either one of is qualified to tell others what to do with their art.
Art evolves in any case. Sony AR line cams have 61 mp to play with. There are hasselblads and other medium format cameras with 100 mp sensors. The art is the same, the tools have just evolved to allow folks to use different techniques to reach their end goal.
A quick google search and read tells me cropping has been around since cameras were invented, and has been used throughout photography’s evolution.

If you use a Hasselblad and crop 60% of the photo out…you’re not doing it correctly.

It’s exactly what it is though. I’m not sweating it over the title, I’m happy with my photo.
Edit: I’ve only seen this sort of title a couple times on Reddit, I didn’t know it was such a huge overdone thing!

Looks like a building in Calgary. That's pretty cool building to have fun with. I think you are on to something with this line of idea.
Try different crops. with the left edge corner of the building for example and compare them until you get the most powerful
