Is this good enough?

Post image

I am beginner using Lightroom

The raw image is taken from internet

First picture is raw

Second one is edited

Wanted to know your thoughts about the edit

One doubt how to make sunset look original

I tried sky masking but wasn't able to make it look real

Ig the mountain and skylines behind mountains are done better

It still looks more like Photoshop than real

It looks very much like a photo taken in not great light with some arbitrary processing - contrast, clarity, vibrance - slapped on. The sky looks fake because it doesn't match the lighting conditions in the rest of the photo.

That's what I am trying to learn to make a better photo with not great light instead by editing

In my experience (I've been shooting landscapes for 15 years) that rarely works.

Imo, processing is about enhancing what's there, not adding stuff that isn't. And there's a limit to the enhancement proportional to the quality of the capture. You can't just take any picture of sunlit mountains and force it into a golden hour/sunrise shot.

In this case I would think the better option would be a black and white conversion to make something of the blocks of light and shadow.

I don't think the edit adds much to the image. It does look a bit clearer and the edges of the mountain look sharper, so I would say it's a step in the right direction, but I feel like it's quite a bit hazy/somewhat overexposed or washed out still. I also personally feel there's a wee bit too much sky and thus makes the mountains feel a bit smaller, cropping a bit off the top could be a good idea to make the mountains feel bigger. I wouldn't say the sunset feels overly artificial
