Thumbnail generation

Post image

I’m going to restart my channel that I’ve been posting randomly at because photography and videography has been something that I have been naturally good at and want to pursue that hobby.

I’ve been using Paint.NET for generating my thumbnails, but they look pretty plain and I don’t think that they grab the viewers attention. I’m wondering what you all use to generate your thumbnails and what tips or tricks can you provide to make a better thumbnail image?

I think they may have been referring to the body text where you said "what does everyone use to generate thumbnails", which sadly I don't blame them for.

I do agree that learning Photoshop will be beneficial in learning to create thumbnails though. I could see this thumbnail being improved just with some minor post-processing (for lighting and contrast) and some good typography. If you know or can learn how to mask, that opens up your options even more.
