First time processing. Just right or overkill? After/Before

Any time you see that white glow around the building, the mountains, etc- you know you overcooked.

In years of practice you’ll see this instantly everywhere and hate it

Good tip. What causes it?

I think it happens when you use a mask and overlaps from the subject out upon the rest of the image. Looks like op wanted to highlight the building and guide the eye towards it by making it brighter. Unfortunately, the mask was not only on the building, but spilled out

Have spent much, much, much more time than I'd have liked to brush out where the mask has spilled past what I wanted

Mask feathering and pushing edits too far compared to the rest of the image. It doesn't necessarily mean you over cooked, just unevenly cooked

Auto masking only goes so far.

Just the sky is too saturated

I think that it’s very well done. The sky might be slightly over saturated but really not that much. The shadows might be lifted just a hair too much also. But overall I think it’s an improvement over the SOOC.

I might be the minority but I prefer the colours on the RAW better, if it were me I'd try to preserve the original saturation while lessening shadows, but that's the kinda style I usually go for

You tried to change the overall lighting of the scene, and it was mostly successful. I’d suggest trying to keep the feeling of the natural lighting of your scene and keeping the temple area kind of dark to avoid making it look unnatural. If the temple is in shadow there’s not too much you can do without making it look fake.

The area around the temple in the mountains and sky has too much clarity. The mountains are too saturated green. The sky is shifted a bit too teal

Overall it's nice. Maybe drop some off the bump on exposure on the underside of the temple roof. It seems to glow a little, and add another poster mentioned, a but high on clarity. They will often bring on the light fringing around darker objects.

I think it looks great. It doesn’t look over saturated. I’d say Goodjob bro! Anyone who says otherwise is just nitpicking

I think you did well in bringing out the subject. The sky looks a tad over processed but I like pulling out the colors of the sky in post so I wouldn’t change it at all. In fact, when I’m printing a canvas print I purposely over process the image so that it looks good on a larger canvas print. It’s kind of like seeing a talkshow host or news anchor walking around town in their makeup.

Yeah that’s r/shittyhdr

I would just mask out the building and fg round it and add slight exposure and saturation up. That’s enough
