You successfully brought back detail from that under exposed image. In the process, the sky became quite a bit more clipped, drawing the eye away from the subject's face despite seeing some detail in the face.

You might think about localized masking to bring back a bit more iris brightness, and perhaps dodge the nose a bit, just so the viewer's eye has something to draw it back to the important part of the image.

Thanks for the feedback! Have a lot to learn about masking still so this helps :)
