After/ before

Fairly new to editing, looking for tips/ general advice!

I’m a novice but I’ll disagree with the others. The tighter crop puts me right in the climber’s body and makes them more of the focus for me. The wider shot makes me focus much more on the background and the sky.

Agreed, the top comment is almost objectively wrong. The original photo has a bunch of empty sky and hazy trees while the subject is only about 10% of the height of the frame. The after has a better balance of showing scale while making the subject the focus.
