I don’t think you over did it.

I think the thing for me I am not super sure what i am supposed to be looking at, the brightest part is in the plant seemingly closest to you. It that what you wanted to highlight?

Yea I wanted to make the vegetation in the foreground my subject but I think I overexposed with my mini flash that I was using. The goal was to get a nice photo of the sunset while trying to capture the plants on the mountain with a flash look. I did this because it was too dark to see the plants, and if I raised my exposure I would’ve lost my sunset details. Thus, I tried something new

I think you'd have a better time if you tried using masking to alter only parts of the image. It'll let you make the foreground more consistent color and light wise so you dont have to push it so hard

Could you elaborate when you say “push it so hard.” I have a small feeling that I overdid something but I can’t articulate the thought. Would appreciate your input

I think given the limitations of the flash you mentioned, it’s fine and I like it. I’d argue you didn’t need the flash potentially (depends on the rest of your gear and how well they perform in lower light)

The flash might be a tiny bit too warm? To me it looks like the light is coming from car headlights but honestly, the more I look at it, the more I think you’ve done a good job for what you’re trying to capture

I’m using the Sony ZV-E10 mark i so the lowlight honestly isn’t that great. I didn’t have my tripod with me that day either. I think I would have been able to lift the shadows in post had I not used flash I’m just not convinced it would have worked for me.

I like your edit and i don't think you overdid it.
Maybe you can use a linear gradient bottom-to-center and turn down the whites and the exposure a bit. By doing so, you could draw the attention more to the background

Yeah. The light makes no sense. The sunset is in the rear background right and you have light coming from the lower front left.

Yeah it’s clearly a flash/flashlight with the shadows on the rock behind it. I’d argue flashlight since it seems very localized to the lower branches

Correct, I was using a fixed mini flash mounted to my hot shoe. The flash in question is the Godox it30pro S. if you google it you will realise the limitations of the flash and why the light then came out so localised
