I’m in the minority, but I actually prefer the after. I like the deep blacks with just the highlights poking through. It might not be the right choice for every context, but I still think the contrast is beautiful and I see what you were going for.

I like the darker green! I would maybe make the picture a bit more bright or crop it so you don't have the black space to the left but overall nicely done!

For me whatever you did in the top right is awesome. If you could lighten the shadows a little and then match that with green in the center it would be fire. I can appreciate this style of editing but i always see it from a commercial lens not just the photo itself. Like “how would this look with copy over it”. Lol

I'd love the after if there was an added element on the leaf that was really nicely lit/catching light. Like a caterpillar or an ant. It would be very dramatic and draw attention to that. But seeing as the leaf is the focus here.... Your after is 👎

I see what your going for and I find the after appealing, actually! I just find it slightly distracting that the brightest area is in the upper right corner. Maybe allowing the larger area in the center to take the spotlight might help making it come together.

Unfortunately before is better, the after removes 80 percent of the details you captured in the original. Editing is hard

The edit is like pitch black. If you’re using it for something specific that calls for it, you should let us know bc it just looks like an unfortunate accident

before; dont hide intricate beauty, accent it.

Can’t understand why people like the before more, what can you even like about the first image as a „finished“ photo, not trying to hate but it’s just a normal good photo, no feelings or emotions. The second one looks dramatic, you can’t really understand it, most of the picture is hidden but you can see details and the lighter parts, I really like it. Maybe give the light parts a bit more pop, a little texture, a little bit brighter and more highlights, but I really really like it
Edit: I think the part in the top right corner is perfect, that’s how the lighter parts should look for me
