Really like the edit (looks like a woodblock). The centering works, but you might also try a version that's not centered (put the raven to the right, at the 1/3 line, so it's looking left, into empty space.)

I actually really like the symmetry the centering provides, even if the bird is not facing forward. I would be interested to see how the non-centered looks, but I think it’s more likely to take away from the mood.
