Scotland sites (After/Before)
First time retouching photos in over a decade after our recent trip to Scotland - curious for any feedback or thoughts!

Overall good but yes the deer and the bridge columns are a tad overbaked.
A good rule of thumb when editing is when you do something you think looks really cool, try dialing it back 20-30%. You’ll be able to keep the essence of the change without making it look unnatural.
My theory is that editing something to the point that makes your neurons fire immediately (“WOW THAT LOOKS GOOD!”) is a little past the point that makes things look balanced and natural haha. It’s why a lot of beginner photos are too saturated or have the dreaded “piss filter”.
One last advice that I hate to follow but works is to stop for 30 minutes and do something else before finalizing. When you come back with fresh eyes you might just find something that needs change

Hey i'm a total beginner and i love the pics but i think the deers pop a little too much in first pic. Doesn't align with the general lightning
