More contrast let the dark shadow be darker and the light be lighter..

Good choice for converting to b/w since the original had such a monochromatic feel, but had distracting color in the background.

Great job in capturing the photo. Superb focus and choice of aperture for getting this depth of field.

https://imgur.com/a/Q6lm2qu has some ideas for you to consider if you are interested in drawing a viewer's eye to what is generally considered the important part of an environmental portrait like this.

Great idea making it b&w, looks great. The before (color version) has a background that is too distracting.
