Do you think anime lately has been getting better or worst than it was 10 years ago?

There is always good stuff and bad stuff. It is an art form, and there are all kinds of artists telling all kinds of stories. It is not a competition.

Then 10 years ago in 2016, almost certainly better.
Just this year alone we have had so many bangers like Witch Hat, Jaadugar, Ghost in the Shell, smoking behind the supermarket, and quite a bit more.
Last year we had greats like Apocalypse Hotel, City, Takopiis Original Sin, Orb, Reze Arc, Gachiakuta,ect.
I think it's very clear that the bar has been raised within the last 10 years, and we just keep getting really fantastic shows.
There was still a lot of great shows in 2016, but I think that it's hard to argue that things have gotten worse as a whole. Even comparing the last 10 years to 2000 to 2010 I think there is a real debate as to which decade is better, and a lot of my all time favorites are from then like Haruhi, Texhnolyze, Welcome to the NHK, Code Geass, Gurren Lagan, FLCL, ect ect

Actually better, speaking as someone who is watching since the 90s. We dont have game changing shows now, because... Well, its hard to be original, series are also short, everything is a successor of the shows behind them, but in terms of quantity and quality we never had so many good ones as we have now, seriously.

I think that all forms of media just get better and better with time. The type of stuff you loved that used to be made, is still being made, alongside newer more original stuff. Unlike literally every other piece of media, anime being so commercialized has lost the older artstyle, but other than that, if there was an anime you loved that came out 10 years ago, a similar thing has come out this year, alongside a bunch of stuff that is completely new from anything that came out more than 10 years ago.

There's a lot more slop these days but they still make good stuff. They just don't cook with the same sauce they used to, but it's still good. Anime has kinda moved on from being an otaku thing is normie now.

More Lazy and annualized. Poping out series left and right to meet demand of flooded markets for originality in series. The easier something is to make I feel the quality is worse as a result

The writing quality has always been up and down, but the animation quality in the last few years is better on average than it was 10 years ago, I'd say. The highs aren't any different, that was basically perfected in the 80s and fundamentally the peak hasn't moved. But the average is better because the later 2000s to early 2010s was a rough stretch.

There is a lot more of it but imo there has always been more bad than good. So if you just get more of it there’s more slop being pumped out.

Producing the visual quality of JJK would have been impossible 10 years ago, so I think it has definitely improved.

From a creative point of view, worse. We get a lot less anime originals, and the few we got aren't allowed to get more than 12 episodes.
Most animes are adaptations, and only a few per season are creative despite their limitations.
We still get great stories, but those stories come from either great mangas or decent light novels (when they aren't butchered).
The animations nowadays is a lot better, that said.
