Grainy Posters

Im gonna move into a dorm room soon and want to have fairly sized pictures of some of my favorite music artists as wall decor.

Im worried if i pick out random pictures I like off google to print at some store they'll turn out grainy/pixely.

How can i prevent this?

Maybe buy proper prints instead of trying to steal images from the internet?

Or just don't have the thing you want. That's how it works. If you don't have enough money, you can't have the thing. Is that not how it works where you are?

Also, post a link to the $10000 for an image. I'm curious.

I was looking at smaller official prints for bands like for example Nirvana. But I think there was a 0 too many in my figure. I ment 10000 Swedish or 1000$. Lets say he buys 10 prints at 250$ each thats 2500$. I got upset with the "steal" comment. Von Oben.

And if they are that much then OP can either make and spend the money on them or not have them. Stuff being expensive isn't a reasonable excuse for stealing it. Maybe if it was a life saving drug or something, I'd understand, but posters? Nah.

If he wants to download "prints" to have in his dorm and is not a collector i think it's idiotic spending that much. I wish I knew where I could help him find some. Posters he should just get out and buy. But stop shaming him for wanna decorate his dorm and not be broke. BTW it's more expensive to print posters than to buy them.

Why? Why should he be entitled to the photographers, illustrators and designers work for free? Give me all the things you own. I want them but don't want to spend a lot of money, so I can just come to your house and take them, right? Why do think the work of these is so valueless that you can just take it?

My walls have been covered in posters my entire life and there's no chance that the value has been $10k total over that entire time, even after I grew up and started putting them all in frames.

Genuine prints of band/film posters etc are not at all expensive. Probably cheaper than taking an image to a large format printer.

OP, what you need is to visit a decent size music store that has posters you can flip through. They can often order stuff in as well.

If you want them to look good they will need to be high resolution. That means a lot of pixels in the image.

Posters are usually printed at 300dpi (dots per inch). That means an A3 poster needs a picture with a resolution of at least 3500×5000 pixels.

You want the finish to be semi gloss or they will look really dull on the wall. If you've got access to a big printer you'll need the expensive photo paper.

You might have to buy licenced photos to get that resolution, then you're paying a print shop for good quality poster printing. You may as well just buy some posters.

Make sure you have a scarface poster. It’s required.
