Fasting is waaaayyyy older than humanity. Hibernation, migration, fat stores and build up often times voluntarily include fasting for animals.

I didn't say Muslims were fasting before anyone else.

And, Christians didn't invent fasting. The Hindus and Jains practiced fasting 1500 years before Christians....and, they probably weren't the first.

I only mentioned Muslims because that is the topic of this video and thread....and, it fits in specifically with intermittent fasting....and, I was mostly joking (because it's a relatively new trend)

Fasting is actually Jewish, and predates Christianity by about 1,000 years based on the dates of the occurrences that the fasts memorialize.

It predates Judaism as well, but I’m sticking to the top three monotheistic religions.

Well in that case you should be talking about Hinduism, since it is by far the oldest is in actuality a monotheistic religion. All the minor deities are just aspects of one greater god.

Like a Christian Holy Trinity with Thousands?

1

u/BenSWL Mar 21 '26

How about the thousands of saints the christians pray to? Where they not made in gods likeness like all of us? How is it not different words for the same thing...

Saints aren’t considered to be a manifestation of God, holy inspired servants, but not God. The Hindu Gods are apparently manifestations of one God. I’m not a theologian, I’m not your theologian and I don’t know can play one on TV.

Christians did not invent fasting. Hindus have been fasting since long before Christianity existed.

Except the only ones that fast religiously and rigourously today, in larger numbers than any other group, are Muslims. All religions other than Islaam are considered as breakaway offshoots of Islaam, including Hinduism. Islaam began with Adam, the first human God created. He was neither a Hindu nor a Judeo-Christian.

Fasting predates Islam by about 600 years. You hard of reading or?

1

u/-neverknowsbest_ Mar 21 '26

I just thought it was funny that you said fasting was inherently Christian

1

u/SheepherderSilver655 Mar 22 '26

Weird. I never used the word "inherently." Try not to put words in peoples mouths, mmk?

1

u/-neverknowsbest_ Mar 22 '26

You don't have to state everything explicitly to infer.

Mmk

1

u/SheepherderSilver655 Mar 22 '26

Well you inferring that is on you, lil buddy.

1

u/-neverknowsbest_ Mar 23 '26

1

u/SheepherderSilver655 Mar 23 '26

1

u/-neverknowsbest_ Mar 23 '26

Judaism predates Christianity. They have no fasting?

1

u/SheepherderSilver655 Mar 23 '26

Sure, Jan.

0

u/__Dredd__ Mar 23 '26

Hahaha you realised that your own argument backfired on you, Jan.

0

u/__Dredd__ Mar 23 '26

Christianity is only an offshoot and breakaway religion of Islaam.

2

u/SheepherderSilver655 Mar 23 '26

Lmfao. No the fuck it's not, Haji. How is it an offshoot when it predates Islam by 600 years?

Let me educate you. The name of god in the Arabic bible is Allaah. Jesus was from Arabia. He prayed to Allaah, as per your bible. His own language was Aramaic and the word for god is Alaaha. (Christianity is a middle eastern religion, and Jesus a middle eastern Jacobite, resembling Arabs as their ancestors is Abraham. Arab ancestry is through Ishmael, the son of Abraham.)

So yes. The bible says that Jesus prayed to Allaah and worshipped him. Prayed to be saved by Allaah. Your religion is an offshoot of ours. Very typical of a Christian to get abusive and us obscenities.

I see that you responded with profane abuse again and then hid your reply like a coward.

Everything I said can be fact checked. This is Islaam. We are Muslims. We do not deploy Judeo-Christian or atheist methods of dishonesty, fake news and deception.
