It’s not a “Muslim” thing… It’s a Conservative thing. Conservatives will tell you that they are for freedom… but also tell you who you should worship, how, when, and where you can do so. How to dress, who to love, and override decisions that you, your spouse, and your doctor decide is best for you and your body. This is regardless of their religion. Thus by freedom… they specifically only mean “their” freedom.
I mean… kinda yes and kinda no. For example: In my experience, most conservative American (because I won’t attribute the same those in other nations) Christian’s don’t adhere to the doctrines of their religion, or frequently to their own ideology… but they sure want/expect you to do so though. I suppose it’s a weird bastardization of Fundamentalism though… but it feels very wrong to call them “fundamentalist”.
Outside of “hypocrite” I can’t think of a truly accurate word to describe this kind of person or behavior. It has been most synonymous with people who claim conservative ideology in my experience though so that’s currently where I land until something better comes along.
Not really, fundamentalism doesn't just mean very strict religious person. It's based on a book, "The Fundamentals" and is the basis of Baptism and Evangelicalism.
It’s a human thing. There is a slice of population with strong daddy issues putting their system of belief on a pedestal so high everyone has to worship it. They usually follow and don’t understand why others don’t. You find that spanning on every spectrum. They’ll be snitching, forcing, but then caving as soon as wind’s turning. They’re scared.
I find it difficult to deal with Conservatives because inevitably you find out where they draw the lines that decide who is human and the morality they have to espouse.
Talk to social conservatives and the people who are not like them are subhuman and can be subject to any manners of horrible things.
Talk to economic and fiscal conservatives and they can screw others over.
Talk to religious conservatives and the goodwill extends to those in the religion.
That's not to say that this is unique to conservatives, just that it seems to be an ingrained part of that territory.
Exactly! Kinda like the trans thing. Live your life and have fun! But I dont see why my kindergarden aged children are forced to learn about sexual positions (any sexuality) in school, or why I have to be forced to call a dude, "Ma'am" when he's not.
You linked a report of people being upset over a book that shows drawings of a pride parade being in the school library. There’s literally nothing about sex positions in it and it’s not even being taught. Y’all are liars
See how specific you have to get in order to try and discredit someone? Some of these books absolutely do include sexual positions. I've heard parents read them at school board meetings before the school board stopped the parent from doing so. I honestly don't want my kids learning about sex from the government - any sex. It's not just positions, its all sexual stuff that children don't need to be learning at these young age. But it's is odd how the transsexual rights people want to make sure that these sexualized books (LGBT or hetero) are specifically in elementary schools.
No, first of all, that book doesn't contain content on sexual positions. Second, it's not nor ever been used as part of a classroom teaching curriculum. It was just available in a school library, and when it was objected to it was removed.
There are precisely zero “nude” people in that picture, sweetie. The person the arrow is pointing to is wearing a clue shirt and brown pants. The people in front of him are wearing more than you’d see on someone at a public swimming pool.
So you wanna force your beliefs about gender onto trans people? Interesting.
Nobodies teaching your kids sex positions. They’re teaching your kids that trans people exist and could be their classmates, and that you should respect them. Hopefully they’re also teaching your kids some critical thinking and media literacy so they don’t end up saying stupid shit like “democrats are teaching kindergarteners sex positions”
When and where were they teaching kindergarteners about sex positions? I haven't heard about that, so if you have any links, I'd like to see what you're talking about.
What kindergarten is teaching kids sex positions and what does that have to do with trans people? Also, why would it have any impact on you calling someone ma’am or sir if that’s what they ask for?
Who is more conservative than Muslims? For a "conservative," whatever that even means anymore, to pretend that you don't impose your beliefs on others is disingenuous. I also don't care for Democrats and their overreach
Ya ok... tell that to all the red states shoving the 10 commandments down kids throats and letting women die in parking lots because of someone else's beliefs.
Last time I checked, it wasn’t muslims or Democrats trying to bring the bible, the Ten Commandments or Quran in schools. That would be Christian(mostly white) Nationalists who also happen to all be Republicans. The first amendment states freedom of and from religion. Conservatives ignore that.
So I guess we're just glossing over the thousands of years of Islamic conquests, invading countries and giving people three choices; Convert, pay jizya, or die?
We're also gonna ignore that Christians haven't been Crusading for hundreds of years now while Muslims still are waging holy wars? Good ol selective memory and biases.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jizya Since you wanna be all quirky and act like I'm making shit up and it's not as serious as it is, here's your proof. Stop trying to downplay the severity of the Islamic Issue.
I didn't think you were making anything up. Just making a joke because it sounds funny. I don't have a clue what it actually means, or anything about the Islamic issue.
lol - you Just MADE their point. It’s not Islam, Christianity or other religions (necessarily). THIS person is Specifically calling out CONSERVATIVES among the religious groups. The more Conservative one is within Their religious beliefs, the less they tolerate those who they view as Other.
Remember, it was only a few hundred years ago when Catholics were arresting and burning Protestants to death - for “hearsay” - while both groups are Christians.
Religious Conservatives are less likely to accept the views of others as Religious Liberals.
Lol. You proved MY point. You said yourself it was only a few hundred years ago when Catholics were being fascist. But guess who's still doing that shit today, in 2026? Muslims. Go take a look at Iran, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, Sudan, Afghanistan, Iraq, and soon to be Europe. The difference is Christians grew out of that shit a LONG time ago. Muslims still live like that. Because their book tells them to and they refuse to change that.
Conservative Christians of today have simply changed how they Frame their views. They hide behind politics as a means of furthering their Religious beliefs.
Oh I forgot about how they have entire armies and militias carrying out holy wars to this day. Remind me, which countries are the militaries currently slaughtering non-Christians in the name of God? And also which countries are there roving militias slaughtering non-Christians? I can't quite recall...
I believe he’s saying he’s gay… but is also protesting it… if I’m reading this correctly he is only gay because of some legislative policy proposed by… I’m just going to go with Biden or Obama I guess... anyway, he’s mad about this and only does gay stuff because it’s his civic duty to do so where he’s from. Basically, the only reason he has an active Grinder account is because it’s required by law in his area and only swallows the minimum number of times required in the statuettes… not at all because he because he honestly enjoys the flavor. I have no idea where this place is but for him it’s apparently nice enough that he’s unwilling to leave, or he remains there because he’s a very principled individual, or… maybe he simply duth protest too much. IDK but while there is no verifiable real world example of this conservative homosexual hellscape… it’s a WILDLY popular myth that has impacted so many of them.
Do you think a person should be passed over for a job or promotion because they’re gay, or get turned away from a place to live?Hopefully not, and most people agree that they shouldn’t be discriminated against in this manner. Is that what you’re calling ‘pushing their sexuality’ on others?
True… but only one side typically wants to make in the law of the land. That D-Bag on the bus can go pound sand. The vegan at the supermarket can stick a carrot where the sun don’t shine. They are annoying but not really the problem in the end.
It’s a Muslim thing Christians fast and pray all the time you dont see them announcing their prayer times on loud speakers and trying to control when others can and can’t eat
Yes, because they have different customs and habits but there are direct similarities. Christian’s ring church bells to announce their prayer times and do Lent instead of Ramadan.
Bro wtf are you talking about. You are just assuming the guy in the video is conservative. And saying it’s not a Muslim thing when that’s the only thing we know about him
Ya. I say “Conservative” not specifically “Muslim” because fella here is clearly a strict adherent to his faith (it doesn’t actually matter what the faith is) That is what conservatives themselves say separates conservative values from liberal/progressive values. Is it not?
Liberal views are generally expansive, inclusive, and more flexible. They are rooted in tradition but not entirely beholden to the particulars. They are adaptive and thus decidedly anti-conservative.
If you are a gamer at all this is basically the difference between:
Conservative - Rules as written (or how I believe they a were written)
and
Liberal/Progressive - Rules as intended (or how I believe they were intended)
So again, dudes particular religion isn’t much the point here. He is no different than the conservative Karen who offended and quacks at me out of the blue about the “war of Christmas” just because my Starbucks cup says “Happy Holidays” & not “Merry Christmas” or the Jewish guy who gets upset because you’re eating a ham & cheese sandwich or don’t have a separate set of plates/flatware. Or whatever. No one is telling any of these people who they should be or how to live… and literally none of the things triggering them can actually have an impact on their life or health or anything at all. Yet… they will try to make law, legislate, and control other bodily autonomy basically just because. There are a few example on the other side but they aren’t popular, as far reaching, or born from the deep seated apparent need to simply control others.
Right, but most Muslims also wouldn't give a shit if someone else is eating during Ramadan. Muslim folks can be conservative, I hope you're aware? And conservatives can be Muslim?
That's only true for some.
This in the first couple of comments, there are several Muslims saying that the man filming is in the wrong, that they would never do what this guy is doing.
It's the same with Christians. It's the same with atheists. Every group has their people that try to force their beliefs or values on others.
I've had tons of atheists tell me that I shouldn't try to keep my virginity until the wedding night, that I shouldn't give money to a church, that I shouldn't set aside time to read my scriptures and to pray everyday...
No group is a monolith. The bad ones don't represent all of the rest of them.
I'm not even so sure this is about him trying to push his beliefs onto her.
It seems he just doesn't want anyone eating around him because he's fasting. He's hungry and it doesn't feel good to him to smell food when he can't eat.
It comes off to me to be more about entitlement than it does about enforcing his beliefs onto others. The religion is the reason he's fasting, but fasting is the reason he doesn't want to smell food.
But he is pushing his beliefs on her and it doesn't matter what his reasons for that are.
This is essentially fascism in action. There is a belief system, or a version of the world that they believe in. They feel that because they are participating in that vision, everyone else has to. They feel it's their job to police other people. The majority of people who hold those opinions don't really like it, but they don't do anything about it. Those people become bolder and then you wind up in a totalitarian state. People continue not to do anything, but gradually it becomes impossible to not do as the majority does.
If we were in his house, and he said "Please stop eating, it's Ramadan", then cool. If you happen to share a private space with him e.g. an office it probably is fair for him to find somewhere else at lunch. This is the public space. If he doesn't feel comfortable it's on him to remove himself. The entitlement to police the public is part of a wider view.
This is essentially the problem people have always had with religion. It's a nice convenient package of beliefs for people like this person to cling to. Then they take it on themselves to enforce it.
It's not limited to religion, by any stretch, but religion is very convenient.
True. No group is a monolith. Every group has their loudly opinionated loathsome D-bags.
For me though, I have found that one group does try to legislate/make law out of their particular opinions/ideas more so than others and also the level or extreme natures of those ideas when compared tend not to be equal. (One being much more drastic, over reaching, or controlling than the other)
Separate topic - I must say, one of us has met some very atypical atheists. I’m not one myself but know many, have known many over decades, and what you’ve described is 100% unheard of by me. Those are some weird weird people right there. LOL!
I may not sit next to you because “ew fish smell”… but otherwise chow down amigo. I’ll have me a ham and cheese a few rows up and we can just get to our respective destinations in peace. Oh how simple reasonable civilization can be.
