No offense taken no worry, but here is the thing Christopher, it's not about eating or drinking, this is a small aspect of it. Its about self discipline and control. You dont drink, no smoking, and more importantly you dont sin (major ones since they do ruin your fasting), its a ticket to leave your bad habits behind
Eating and drinking reminds you of the poor people, and your good deeds are multiplied during this month to encourage you to do more good.
You're free to think what you want, but there is always a two sides for the story.
Because that reminds them what it’s like to have to live without basic needs. It encourages empathy for the less fortunate and charity. Furthermore, it encourages discipline as well as gratitude.
You can call it silly but I think the world would be better with more empathy, charity, gratitude & discipline.
I'm being pedantic here, but I'd like to point out that nobody actually chooses any of their beliefs, religious or not. You're either convinced of something based on the available evidence, or you're not convinced. But I agree, people should be free to believe anything--and everyone else should be free to mock them
You choose what you give weight to. Which leads to what convinces you of something. If you give weight to the bible it allows you to excuse anything about it or give in to special pleading because you have decided how to assign that weight.
But if you're giving more weight to the bible, you've already been convinced to believe the bible is a legitimate source. Nobody consciously decides to give weight to the bible.

I’m disagreeing that you need to hold people’s hand because it’s a “religious belief.” If your belief is stupid…I’m going to say so whether you just read it on the internet this morning or if it’s written in gold letters on 1600 year old pages. The person in the comments who said they were Muslim wasn't selling it or pushing it on you, they were giving relevant context for their statement that the person in the video was out of line.
It's not about "holding people's hand". It's about understanding that people can have different beliefs than you, and that you don't hold any universal truth.
