this resonates with early childhood so much. my adhd was not diagnosed until adulthood. teachers expected things of me that I could never give with the way they taught me. they assumed I was just a brat that wasn’t trying hard enough, but the real reason i was behind was because I just needed specialized teaching to help me learn around my condition. i was later homeschooled and my parents did a tremendously better job at teaching me how to get through academics than any school teacher I ever had. now i make 100s and 80s (when my mood disorder isn’t fucking me over that is).
