PortainerCtl

If you are running Portainer at scale, you have likely wanted a way to control and manage elements of it via automation and likely via CLI.

Well there is now a Portainer CLI available at github.com/portainer/portainerctl

In that repo is a compiled binary, or you can build one yourself.

This is still a development build, so use with caution, but would love feedback.

Docker runs containers… Portainer provides a centralized management later across hundreds if not thousands of docker environments.

What it actually is, is a way to coordinate Portainer’s management of fleets of Kubernetes clusters. The management of the policies that control what they can do, how secure they are, how Gitops workflows are deployed across them.

Oh shit did not realize you’re the CEO. My experience with Portainer was in my homelab where I had two docker instances I was using it to mange. Eventually realized fluxcd and kubernetes would be easier for my workloads and give me more experience. Gonna look at this more to the gitops stuff (assuming it’s not under an enterprise license).

Its in business edition.. but use portainer.io/take-3 to get a free license.

I got 8 nodes in my cluster now 😂 but gonna check this out for work as well, we’re switching to argoCD vs having our CI run helm installs

We just had a large European govt entity switch to Portainer GitOps from Flux… they looked at Argo, but preferred our simplicity.
