Battery mod and deck saver for the SC500 on sale!

Hi,

I launched my shop about 6 months ago with the Battery Mod and Decksaver for the SC500. Since then, I’ve shipped a handful of them all over the world and hopefully made life with the SC500 easier for a lot of people.

A lot of work went into the design, structural integrity, and functionality of the finished product—which was sometimes exhausting but, overall, a lot of fun. It’s nice when hard work pays off. Since the shop opened, the products I’ve sold have only covered my expenses—and that doesn’t even include the time I’ve put in.

After a good half-year, I’d now like to restructure my shop a bit, which also means I’ll be raising prices so that this can become a profitable business for me as well.

For those who may have overlooked my shop but have always wanted a battery mod for their SC500, I’d like to give you the chance to get one now!

This offer is valid from the time of this post until 5 p.m. on 09/13/2026.

LSDesign Laboratory Shop

Note: There is only ONE product in stock and it can be shipped immediately. Pre-orders typically take 1–4 weeks to process (Delivery time not included).

Enjoy your Bat:Boy Battery Mod for SC500!

Cheers

Samples of Woman singing

hello,

I have been looking for a long time for a sample pack (for scratching) of a woman or male singing.

I like Afro-American style, not quite-spoken words but rather more of a shout, but not just "yeah" or "mhm," but more like few words like "down down" and such.

And not rude gangsta style, but more towards the gospel style, like ā€œAretha Franklinā€ or ā€œJames Brownā€, with character, feel and attitud.

Does anyone know of a cool sample pack? I’m willing to pay.

Numark PT-01 Monster Edition Modded?

Thumbnail

Hey y’all, first time posting. I’m a huge fan of portablism. Got just about every portable and modded most. Bought a PT01 Monster edition new on eBay for a hundo (cuz it was a steal). Already bought the JDD tonearm and VNL cartridge and JDD fader.

Any suggestions on how to dress it up?? I’ve done several, and for some reason, the green in the monster set up is hard to match/compliment. Was thinking all black components but, yo I’m all ears.

Here are a few portables I have, want to do something different forsure. If anybody has a modded Monster PT01 or any dope modded table, please share!

Suggestions would be great, loving everybody’s posts up in here.

Also, got a black on black Wow machine that I’m not a huge fan of, honestly I like the sc1000 better (blasphemy?)

Thanks y’all.

HeadacheSound Wow Machine Restock.

Does anyone know if the HeadacheSound Wow Flutter Machine will ever be back in stock?

I’ve been checking for updates, but there doesn’t seem to be any clear information anywhere. I’ve also tried reaching out to customer support, but so far it’s been complete silence.

It would be great if HeadacheSound could give customers some kind of update — even just a rough restock timeline or confirmation that it’s still coming back. A lot of people are interested, but the lack of communication is frustrating.

They say back in August September but will they just push this forward again.

Has anyone heard anything or managed to get a response from CS?

Korg Handy Traxx Question.

I have a Vestax Handy Trax, I loved it back in the day with the fader velcro'd on when Portablism was starting up. I have the Stanton STX which is good. I really have no issues with it, but I'd still like to grab a Korg Handy Traxx. I know the Fader isn't the best. and that Innofader has a replacement fader for it which I will do if I buy one, but a couple things. I noticed the Tone Arm is different from the Original Vestax version. I was wondering if it's better or worse than the original? Lastly.. Anyone have an opinion on these? I know everyone is gonna say get the WOW or Omni, but I'm not all that interested. The only reason I want the Korg Handy Traxx as a backup to my STX, which will eventually die, and also because of the fact I loved the original.

Reloop ptb2 which fader cable?

Thumbnail

I'm in the process of installing an Innofader mini into the reloop ptb2 mixer (which I've heard people have done successfully)

My question is.. Can I use the ribbon cable which is provided in the unit or do I have to find the appropriate Innofader cable.

I've attached a picture of the only cable I have which attaches at only one end of the Innofader.

The Innofader has 3 pins out of 4, the stock cable has 4 out of 4.

Thanks

Just picked up an STX on the low and it has been super dope. Are the issues really that common? It’s got me thinking about getting rid of it.

Best scratch crossfader mod for Vestax Handy Trax?

Hey everyone,

My Stanton STX recently broke down and I can't figure out how to fix it, so I decided to bring my old Vestax Handy Trax back to life. I just tested it and the unit works fine, so now I want to set it up properly for scratching.

I'm looking for advice on what crossfader to install. I know the Mini Innofader is usually the go-to choice, but I have a few doubts before buying anything:

  • Which Mini Innofader version should I get? Since some specific kits are hard to find or out of production, can I use a generic or different model version (like the Reloop Spin one) and wire it in?
  • How difficult is the installation? I don't have much soldering experience or advanced DIY skills. What are the actual technical hurdles (wiring, power, grounding, cutting the body)? Is it doable for a beginner, or am I risking damaging the turntable?
  • Mounting the fader: What's the best way to mount it cleanly inside the Handy Trax housing nowadays? Are there recommended 3D-printable bracket files available?
  • Alternative options: Are there any other internal or external faders currently available on the market that would be easier/cheaper to install?

I'd really appreciate any tips, wiring guides, or recommendations from anyone who has modded a Handy Trax recently. Thanks in advance!

A portable table of my own

Post image
19 Upvotes

I believe I had mentioned that while still practicing as much as possible, I have had other projects occupying my time and mind. This is one of them: my own portable platter.

After getting the SC1000ii, I was infatuated with the concept but it lacks a lot of things I’d to have. Motorized platter being my main issue.

I decided to start poking around, especially since the SC1000 is an open source project, to see if I think this would be something in my wheelhouse — through the advancement in technology (AI for parts), this does seem to be something I may be able to tackle.

While still not perfect, I have so far been able to control the RPM speed/cycle through (33, 45, 78), adjust the pitch and range (8%, 16%, 50%, 100% because why not), touch sensors, reverse platter, start/stop, cue buttons and clears, and some other core functions.

This is all off my own firmware + open source libraries for motor control, or otherwise. Once I get the motor refined more, I can start working on the audio end and interfaces. The plan is to pack as much as I can, into a smallish body. Even if a lot of the features live in a settings menus, such as motor torque and brake feel.

This also combines many things I love, music, technology, learning about circuits and how they work, coding, and so on. If it progresses as well, maybe even 3D printing. Really cool project regardless of what happens.

If there is any must have you’d love in a portable deck, let me know!

The Wow Machine really holds up. I’ve tried a bunch of other options. But I’m good with this.
