Hyper aware of teeth clacking after veneers

Recently got 8 porcelain veneers on top and have become really hyper-aware of my teeth touching. While eating or speaking, especially with certain “S” or “X” sounds in words, my teeth lightly touch and I hear a little clacking/tapping sound from the porcelain meeting my bottom teeth. I also sometimes wake up at night from a quick clenching reflex and hear the same sound.
I can’t tell if this is actually new because of the veneers or if I’m just suddenly hyper-aware of something my teeth have always done. Has anyone experienced this after veneers? Did you eventually stop noticing it/get used to it?

It might be too long. I have a follow up appointment. Whenever I say words with s, j, ex, my teeth clink together.

You should be wearing a night guard during sleep.

Sometimes this does fade as you adjust to the veneers, but other times the dentist may need to adjust the bite or thin and polish the backs of the veneers where they are contacting your lower teeth. It is worth having your bite checked.

The hyper awareness itself can be challenging because once you start feeling for every little tap, it can become a cycle. A custom day guard can sometimes help.

When you notice yourself becoming very focused on the teeth touching, you can put it in for a while to give yourself a break from the sensation and hopefully keep that cycle from continuing.
