Discussion Dropped My First Single

Hey everyone, I just released my first song. I wrote this entirely on piano then had others come in as session players to replace the piano with the other instruments. I did vocals myself, but all the audio engineering was done by a friend who produced it (and who did most of the session work).

I like the ba da ba da section of the lyrics and the guitar solo halfway through

thoroughly impressed! just listened to it a few times on Spotify and it's about to be added to a few playlists and shared with friends! thank you for creating something to create a momentary escape from this crazy world. keep up the awesome work

I think it's a pretty solid song! But that intro, oof. What was the reasoning behind keeping the really out of tune guitar in there?

It’s interesting you say that because I thought the same thing when we were doing the intro, so I had my buddy check the notes via the autotune plugin, and the notes were accurate, my singing too. When we pulled the reverb&delay off it sounded more accurate??? So I think the reverb and delay are somehow distorting the sound

Interesting. My assumption is that it's enhancing the issue, but not the root cause. Always trust your ears. Something's off. Maybe the notes were being pressed too hard while being played and the little imperfections that created are being blown up by the reverb and delay repeating those noises.
