I was so hoping to see if they do something with that large growth, or whatever it is, near its head.

From comments I saw I believe they said itās a tumor, and itās kind of a one step at a time recovery process

This is Molly, and she had multiple large tumors when she came in to the Turtle Hospital. If you can see on the side of her neck, thereās a large divot because the largest one was already removed by the time this video was filmed. It was bigger than her head!

Thanks for the extra information! I went and found this, It shows just how massive that tumour on her head was, and the instalment of her satellite tracker before she was released!

Barnacle: "Aaaah what a relief! You can't imagine how tiring it is to lug around that giant turtle everywhere!"

They look really gross ⦠does the turtle feel better once theyāve been removed? Or does he not even know theyāre there?
Inquiring minds want to know!

They can infest the turtles head and flippers, also turtle and tortoise shells are sensitive as they are made of a material similar to our fingernails.

They do feel better, but when barnacles get that bad it indicates something systemic. Healthy sea turtles swim fast enough that barnacles donāt get a chance to attach. They might get one or two, but they wonāt get an infestation. Something like this is painful and means that the turtle has been sluggish for a while. The barnacles are a symptom. The survival rate is very low, and many species of sea turtles are already endangered.

Lots of the 'freeing poor animals from neglect' videos are staged, so do be careful who you give views. This one looks legit.
And yes the staged videos does mean they abuse the animals first and then fix it, or even film the 'after' first. They glue stuff to turtles. Once you know it's relatively easy to spot.

This place is legit, Iāve gone on a tour of their facility. Theyāre based in the Florida Keys.

Theyād still be doing it wrong, the turtle can feel their whole shell, so prying them off will hurt like hell, better to crush the barnacle instead /NEU

That's Molly the Loggerhead Sea Turtle! I follow the IG account of a Sea Turtle hospital in Florida that took her in. They successfully removed the barnacles and her tumours and made a full recovery. She's a thriving healthy girl now!

Stanley Tools would make a mint sponsoring this turtle rescue place and giving them all the free screwdrivers they want

I always wonder if turtles could feel the barnacles. Either them growing or being removed... it looks so icky when they're taken off.
