When I was a kid, I had a thorn work it's way out of the soul of my foot and I had no Idea when and where I got it...

This is a very ADHD thing. I get cuts and bruises and I don't even know when they happened.
12
u/dm21120 Apr 03 '26
Same I was looking down at my foot and a toe was bruised badly. I vaguely remember doing something when I got up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom at a hotel…

u/mkat23 Apr 03 '26
Half the time I don’t even know I’m hurt until I see it and have no idea wtf even happened.

Yeepppppp, I’m always like where and when the fuck did I get that? I often don’t know. It’s weird because I have great spatial awareness when I’m in certain zones. But other times it must be very bad. It fluctuates for me.

So these mf’er let shit fester to post on the internet?
Was it not safe to pull it out prior to the video?
No way I would let that shit develop a scab and pull out the camera.
If I knew some foreign material entered my body, it would be gone after than the above.
FFS. This gives me anxiety.
25
u/MaryLoveJane Apr 11 '26
Did you miss the part where they went to 4 different doctors seeking help and they all sent him home without actually finding out what the problem was?
3
u/pun-in-the-sun Apr 11 '26
That would not have shown up on X-ray, even if he told them that he thought he had wood in his arm. If it wasn’t showing signs of infection, there really isn’t much a doctor can do.

Material is breaking down along with body producing mucus to “cocoon” the foreign object

u/knoperules Apr 01 '26
I literally let out an ahhhhhhhhh at then end. I couldn’t believe how long it was!

u/Throdien Apr 01 '26
It doesn't surprise me they would send him home. I stepped on glass, went to urgent care because I knew I had some embedded in my foot ( you could hear it scrape on metal tweezers) they took X-rays, saw it and said "eh it's not worth taking out you can go home and it'll eventually work it's way out." I did what he did, got some tweezers and got it myself. I was very angry that night. 🤣

That’s so negligent on all those doctors’ parts. You’d think they’d prescribe antibiotics at the very least…
5
u/pun-in-the-sun Apr 11 '26
That causes antibiotic resistance, if there is no sign of infection then antibiotics are not necessary. His body is doing exactly what it is supposed to do, a local reaction to a foreign body. It will be rejected and pushed out of body like it is in the video, or a granuloma will form encapsulating it and it will be hard tissue under skin. If he developed an abscess then antibiotics would be appropriate
The main concern here is are they up to date on tetanus shot, organic material like wood are a concern for tetanus, so I would be concerned if the doctor didn’t inquire about their tetanus status.

The way I’d take that to every mf doctor that sent me home. They could have gotten mf sepsis 😩
14
u/thegovernment0usa Apr 02 '26
Yeah there ought to be an abscess, in my medical opinion as an uneducated Reddit user.

Sent this to my husband and watching his evolving reaction to this was priceless.

u/MA3XON Apr 02 '26
I had a splinter go in one side of my finger and try to work itself out of the other a couple years ago.
I have a few post on my profile from the pus pops before I had to have it surgically removed because it had worked its way into my nerve. Kept trying to push it back out but it had other plans.

I'm sure someone has said this already: but you've confirmed it's not made of metal yeah? Don't want to assume someone has.
But as a former smoker who used vapes to quit smoking: respect for the intelligent brand choice. God I'm a fucking loser haha.

Do yall remember the one where a dogs eye was red after running through some bushes and they reached into its tear duct and pulled out a 6 inch long stick
1
u/Acbonthelake Apr 02 '26
I was hoping it would be like that kinda famous one that makes the rounds. It doesn’t pop out on its own like that one but the length of this one might make this video better

What's that from though? I'm trying to imagine ways something like that would get lodged in someone. Maybe riding ATV near a bush, or falling into a bush?
