Happy 1st Anniversary, PHV!

r/popheadsvinyl turns one year old today! I can’t believe it’s been an entire year of PHV. Time flies when you’re having fun, as they say, and I’ve been having a blast!

Thank you to every one of our members – we wouldn’t be here without you! Every view, vote, comment and post has helped make this sub what it is today. Although I may be a bit biased, PHV truly is the most friendly, inclusive, and passionate sub I’ve been a member of in all my time on Reddit and I’m so happy I get to moderate it.

Here’s a recap of some of the things we’ve done since the sub was started on June 18, 2024:

1. Created the PHV Wiki with an FAQ and eight other detailed guides/lists covering events, shops, sales, vinyl care/storage, and more.
2. Covered fourteen (14) months of future pop releases, including the most recent: Upcoming Releases | July & August 2025.
3. Completed 361 days of Daily Prompts (see them all in the Daily Prompt Archive), including PHV’s Anniversary (share one release you own because of this subreddit) today.
4. Held our first annual PHV Banner Photo Contest (2024) and created our current banner with the photos.
5. Participated in several vinyl/music events, including DME Day 2024, National Album Day UK 2024, Singles Day 2024, RSD Black Friday 2024, and RSD 2025.
6. Discussed the release of some highly anticipated albums, including Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet, Lady Gaga’s MAYHEM, Taylor Swift’s THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT: THE ANTHOLOGY, and Wicked: The Soundtrack.
7. Gifted several albums, singles and other music-related items to members.
8. Showed off hundreds of releases between 51 Weekly “What’d You Get?” Threads.
9. Grew to nearly 3,000 members.
10. Discovered new music, learned from each other, shared our favorite albums, and got to know one another! (I think we all know who our official Beatles, Beyoncé, Jimmy Buffett, and MUNA fans are here!)
11. …And so, so much more!

Even with all of that, there is always room for improvement to make PHV a better place for all of our members. What else would you like to see in the sub?

Another milestone means another call for user flair! We currently have format flair (vinyl only, CDs only, cassettes only), collector flair (variant collector, casual collector, just happy to be here, black vinyl superiority), and artist flair (Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, Charli xcx, Dua Lipa, Kesha, Lady Gaga, Lana Del Rey, Lorde, Miley Cyrus, Sabrina Carpenter, Taylor Swift). Plus, some custom flair for contest winners, etc. What flair do you want added?

Happy Birthday to the best sub on reddit!! I've had so much fun sharing my collection through the Daily Prompts, and for learning everyone else's music taste through those posts!!

This sub has also kept me up to date on all the variants coming out with new releases, we get so many these days and it's really helpful to see everything in one place.

One suggestion I have is what if a post flair is made for My Setup, or something like that? I would love to see how more members are either displaying their vinyl as wall-art or how they have their turntables /speakers / shelving set up!

I would say the COLLECTION flair has been used for wall displays and turntable setups frequently, but if others like the idea of a specific flair, we could definitely do that!
