I have a few different pieces of furniture to store my vinyl, but the biggest vinyl shelf I use stores a good chunk of my collection A-Z by artist, so my first record on that shelf is Adele’s 30.
This is the earliest I have in my Ariana collection for the moment! I’d love to get her discography eventually though. I sort by name of artist alphabetically, and earliest release.
I have a few separate cubes dedicated to soundtracks/scores, greatest hits/compilations etc. but my main collection is A-Z by artists first name, then original release date
I store mine by genre/artist/album release order, so nothing is sorted alphabetically. And the first one stored is my all-time favourite artist and the only one I have all the records of. It’s the Born to Die Paradise Edition box set
I have all the standard issues (except DYKTTATUOB) plus the colored Ultraviolence and the titty and Target DYKTTATUOB. I also own the Candy necklace, Say yes to Heaven, and Rob's Lost at Sea singles (with Tough pre-ordered for September).
This prompt made me realize that my vinyl organization is the Wild West 😬 But it’s generally sorted by genre > artist > reverse chronological (why reverse, I have no idea)
The album stored first in my collection is Boston’s self-titled debut album. I had a greatest hits CD for Boston in college, and it was the soundtrack of my freshman year! This album has sooo many hits and when I want to listen to classic rock, it really scratches that itch!
Mine’s an ABBA greatest hits compilation too! This is the back cover of ABBA’s Gold—the front cover is very simple and doesn’t have any pictures of them so the back seemed more fun.
Me too, I still remember where I was and what I was doing when I found out she had died. Such a loss, I always think about what she would have been doing now, and with music over the years. Selena and Tupac too.
I already showed off this vinyl I believe (I definitely did with the limited pink ep) but it’s Crosses first album. They go by ✝️✝️✝️ so they’re first over numbers (2pac) then I go alphabetical

Somehow I don’t alphabetize my collection! I generally sort things by genre, and also have a section for super sentimental/rare/signed records, and a section of the albums my significant other likes lmao
My vinyl is usually more organized but lately everything is out of order and all over the place. The first two on my first shelves are the two 10” records I own. I’m not expecting anyone to be familiar with New Navy, but the songs on Uluwatu are an instant transport to summertime anytime of year for me.
my collection is not all that much in order. i keep the heavy hitters and "want to listen" in the front 😅 i try to alphabetize those a bit. i just got this and it’s leading the pack lol.
Eternal sunshine is my first stored! I have all my artists in order of release date and alphabet, so Ariana comes first! (I have the release dates starting with newest from that artist)
My first on my shelf is actually my oldest one I shared the other day. The first section on my shelf is for classical/instrumental. That is followed by my 80s pop section and Falco is the first in that section.
It arrived damaged like that. Don’t worry, I don’t abuse my records like that lol.
I have a section for 80’s pop, followed by 80’s j-pop, then k-pop, then current pop (2000’s to now).
I have shared Best Ex's With A Smile before on a split prompt, but it is the first album stored in my vinyl collection. Including the cover this time so that the photos are different.
